Best local food I have had this trip, thus far. Better value than Kache Koche or whatever the fancy place is called. Popular. Excellent service - plenty of staff. Besides printed menu there is a changeable one in wall - mostly fish
Bit crowded and therefore the small dining room cramped at lunch. Place is so popular that they gave a queue section outside.
Only two 'dissapointments' - all unlimited except my favourite dish, the drumstick one; plus foreign VISA card not accepted. Kitchen looked plenty clean enough.
Will I return?: Absolutely!

Delicious homemade Bengali food, easily the best everyday meal one can ask in the area.
There is sufficient variety in the menu, portions are ample, they have all you can eat meal options.
It's crowded during high time leading to congestion in the cramped up room. Orders are delayed according to the crowd. But overall food quality is amazing.

Went there for having Lunch, a pocket friendly Bengali thali.
Taste too good, variety of dishes.
Usually too crowded, waiting line is there.
But worth waiting.
Recommended for sure.
Service is really quick.
The food is excellent and this is one of the best Bengali cuisine with in South Kolkata.
The price and the quality of the Bengali food serve here is really great and the staff behaviour is also friendly. This place is located just opposite to Lake Mall and you can call the restaurant directly to get exact location.
Food option is quite vast and lot to choose from.
The quality and freshness is top class.
Suitable for children, old family members.
The place is located a bit inside and you may have some trouble finding it out for the first time. However, the location on Maps is correct.
Most of the popular items in the menu are available. Quality is good and the prices are also reasonable.
At last we found some Bengali restaurant with reasonable price. We went on the occasion of Bengali New Year. We took one Katla fish meal, one Mutton meal and its cost us only Rs 520. I am pretty sure if you go any other Bengali restaurant it will cost double.
Taste, quantity, quality too good. Specially mutton. I have not eaten so soft and home style cooked mutton anywhere for long time.
I really recommend it to everyone
I heard about this restro and 15th sep, 2022 visited the restro..
NAME : Kolapata restaurant
Location : just opp lane of Lake mall.
Time : 11.30 am to 4pm
THEY DONT DO HOME DELIVERY
One senior lady was in the cash counter...she is a very nice and sweet person.
Around 1.30 pm i went there for their fish thali..
I was soooo hungry thats why i ate all else I could not.
The Katla thali was 180 rs...they served very quickly.
What I loved they served in the Clean plate with Banana leaf on it ..
Thali contained : Rice, Alu bhaja, alu seddho, daal, gondgoraj lebu, maach er matha die badhakopi, a big size of katla fish and Chutney..
Taste was awesome and Not tikha at all..
I did take away also as i loved the food..had egg thali rs 120(contained two eggs) and fish thali 180 rs...all the items were there except the lebu and alu seddho...i guess those are special for dine in..
Next day will ask the Aunty 😀
And i had to go to Lake mall..so asked the aunty if i can keep the parcel and later can collect...she allowed..such a sweet person..
And now on Whenever I will visit lake mall...i will visit this Hidden gem for sure
UPDATE on 21st Sep, 2022
I visited again and this time I took Sorshe Kaatla thali..that is 200 rs
And Alu seddho is for sit and eat only not for take away 🙂
The Rice quantity was too much for me so before i start eating I asked them to reduce that as I dont waste food.
They gave me a clean plate and spoon...I just reduce the Rice and returned them...the staffs are so nice ..they asked in mid eating if i need rice or not...
PS : I eat less ..so any place if i go for thali always Reduce the Rice and never ask to reduce the thali price either...
So keep in mind reduce the quantity by your own does not mean the thali price will be reduced...that will remain same Everywhere and which is ok with me
Authentic bengali food in reasonable price comparing to the other brand bengali restaurants. Every food item including fish, chicken, is tender, fresh and well cooked. A total 5 star experience !
