Loved the food... while the menu looked majorly for non-vegetarians, there was good enough fare for us vegetarians. From starter to dessert... the staff is extremely well trained and friendly.... thank you 'Law', you suggested perfect food...we got out happy. Definitely coming again.

Until a few years ago, India's love for Japanese was largely restricted to Made in Japan electronic goods for its superior quality and durability. People have lately started realizing that Japanese meticulousness is not just limited to electronic goods alone and when it comes to food, Japanese cooking demands finesse in taste and presentation. Ruka, originally from Bahrain and now with a second restaurant in Mumbai, is the latest addition to an array of Japanese restaurants in the city. Ruka has dedicated sections for lounge and restaurant. With a big glass facade, the lounge has well lit, contemporary and lively ambiance while the restaurant section with dimly lit ambiance wears a classy look. We started with Japanese Mule and Berry Ice Tea to ease the effect of the afternoon heat. Presented in a barrel-shaped glass and garnished with fresh gingers and basil, the taste of Japanese Mule is dominated by ginger and is a blend of apple juice, orgeat syrup and yuzu juice. Berry Ice Tea was an indistinguishable blend of strawberry, blueberry and cranberry with jasmine ice tea. Sushi is perhaps the most consumed Japanse food or in other words, for a non-Japanese, the introduction to Japanese cuisine starts with Sushis. Although this was not the first time experience but thanks to the staff @ Ruka, we got our 101 on sushi eating only to discover the right way of getting the best of the savory preparation. Sushis are most likely served with wasabi paste (made from wasabi plant) and pickled ginger. Wasabi is supposed to be mixed with soy sauce. Just a tiny dip of sushi in this mixture enhances the flavour to a great extent. Having a piece of pickled ginger post sushi serves as a flavour enhancer and palate cleanser to get the best taste of the next sushi. Sushi is always eaten in a single piece and that's were chopsticks come handy. Having sushi like finger-food is perfectly acceptable alternate otherwise. Not to mention the Crispy Spicy Avocado Maki Roll we had was a great combination of avocado, cucumber and was served with chilli mayo. The Carrot and Daikon Cake was a heap of deep fried crispy layered cakes with a filling of daikon and sprinkled with garlic and green onions. Spicy Edamame Fried rice with a generous quantity of green edamame beans was star dish of the meal. On its own or combined with Steamed Assorted Vegetables the fried rice had an exceptional taste. In desserts, the choices were quite limited especially if fruit desserts are excluded. Willing to try something different, we ended up with Green Tea and Banana Cake which came with toffee sauce and banana ice-cream. The unusual combination of green tea and banana flavours in a cake was pleasantly satisfactory. Surprisingly none of the dishes disappoint us and we would surely love to try other dishes on our next visit. Prices make this a special occasion place but are justified considering the elegant ambiance, good service and exceptional food in taste and quality. Ruka, reeking of an elite atmosphere, this pan-asian joint is a must visit.. Prompt service and wonderful ambience is wat makes an evening at Ruka memorable one.. Their signature cocktails have very interesting concoction.. There is something to satiate everyone's taste buds.. Ginger n Lychee Martini, the sweetness of lychee wid an afterkick of ginger... Totally loved this one.. Food, Lotus Root Chilli Honey, D Chef totally nailed this one, giving d perfect flavours tat hit ur taste buds at d right spot.. A must have.. Grilled Vegetable Khao Suey, It is a one-dish soup meal made of noodles and veggies with coconut milk, served with a variety of contrasting condiments. A squeeze of lemon also adds tanginess.. Again a must have dish.. Sometimes, words just aren’t enough to convey exactly how much I really love a specific dish. This is a prime example of that. Therefore, I’ll only tell you that Maki Sushi, at Ruka are pretty much one of the most delicious things I’ve tasted in a really long time. Crispy n Spicy Avacado Vegetarian Philadelphia Asparagus Tempura.. Dessert, Mango n Chocolate Pannacotta, Smooth, velvety, wid variation of mango, d berry compote giving tat kick of tanginess.. Superb presentation and tasted really yummilicous.. Deconstructed Black Forest, A must try.. It was quiet a sight.. D toffee sauce was delicious.. And whole concept was superb.. Ruka is a place just not to b missed.. Highly recommend it.. Must go fr d food, service n ambience👍
