Fish Curry Rice'- The name says it all. It offers plenty of choices to seafood lovers. Fried fish dishes - Surmai, Ravas, and pomfret are simply outstanding. It was crisp, well-spiced, and delicious.

They do serve mutton, Chicken, and egg in different Konkani curries and spices. We had Surmai (kingfish) curry as well, which was made in a coconut base with just the right amount of hot spice.

The place is clean, has its own vibe and there is a theme of Maharashtrian theater going on.

In short - If you love seafood, you would love this place❤️!!

Thanks, Mr. Sandesh Bhatt & team for yummy seafood & good service.

Being a regular customer of their outlet at SB road branch, I couldn't control myself from visiting them once again but this time at their Baner branch.

Crab thali is always my go to option unfortunately by the time we went over there it was over.
So I ordered

Fish Thali : ****

Following were the items
Surmai fry
Fish curry
Sukat
Soul curry
Chutneys (coconut ones)
Chapati
Bhakri (rice flour)

Fish was fresh and properly fried. Sukat was awesome as always although I always feel they should increase the quantity of Sukat. Both tandlachi bhakri and chapati were served hot. Totally mouth watering taste of every item. Ending it with soul curry made my soul satisfied.

P. S. try chutneys they are really worth it.

Really good restaurant, family friendly and with proper ambience. If you are 80s or 90s kid then you can see old school Marathi theatre pictures on the walls. Nostalgia 😍
.

Overall, if you want to try some goan or Kokani food this is a must try place.

Being one of the well known & awarded seafood restaurants in Pune, FCR serves wide variety of coastal seafood cuisine.

Some of the items that I devoured from their menu were

Tiwal:
This is kokum drink consumed as a digestive drink has spicy and tangy tones. #Recommended

Solkadhi:
Delicious drink made with coconut milk and kokum was refreshing.

Bombil thecha fry :
The bombil was crispy on the outside with tender delicious meat on the inside. This was too good. If you are someone who likes spicy food then this is a must try. #Recommended

Rawas Fry: ₹550
Fairly big pieces of Rawas were coated with rava and fried. Now the ones we tried were fried in coconut oil which I thought didn't bring out the flavours much. Also since coconut oil has a low smoke point, it was giving the coating a bit of bitter taste.

Stuffed Bangada: ₹330
Whole bangada fish stuffed with goodness of masalas and fried was delicious. I personally like bangada so this was a good one.

Prawns Aluwadi: ₹450
I somehow could taste more of the regular aluwadi and very little of prawns in this dish. For this experience, the dish feels too overpriced.

We also tried Idli with prawn curry which was a delicious combination of kotte idli, prawns curry and prawns tikhale( a tangy thick curry). The hot and spongy idlis went perfectly with the curries. #Recommended

FCR has a specific curry for each kind of fish/meat and it is the same always. There are total 7 delicious curries but for someone who likes medium spicy to very spicy food may find some fish curries bland/less spicy.

Ended our meal with the regular kharwas which was delicious as coffee kharwas wasn't available.

The coconut chutneys , cauliflower salad served with the appetizers was complimenting the food.

The Baner branch has a bigger seating area compared to the law college branch. The ambience is soft & warm.

Didn't try any of the thalis but their rates seems to be bit over the board. So overall had a good time here & will come back for their thali and coffee kharwas.

Finally visited this award-winning restaurant with high hopes and guess what? They upheld my high hopes with their yummy seafood, light Marathi music in the background and a pleasant ambience. The place is decorated with awards and photos of the various plays that were produced by the owners of Fish curry rice. The logo itself is interesting which depicts a fish head with a brinjal as the tail showing a mix of seafood, chicken, mutton and vegetable dishes in the menu.

The first item on the menu had to be Bombil thecha fry, which is the regular Bombil stuffed with thecha (a spicy green chilli preparation) and then fried, giving a nice, crispy and medium-spicy taste. Crunchy and brittle on the outside and soft, almost buttery on the inside, this delicacy acted as an appetizer to a seafood meal.
The next item was the Chonak fish fry, a Goan special. At Fish curry rice, the owner wants to spread awareness about the variety of fish available and hence you'll always find a new type of fish on the specials menu.
Prawns Aluwadi, a delicious twist to the usual Aluwadi, caught my eye. Minced prawn meat stuffed in the aluwadi. The difference is so subtle that only a seafood lover can spot it.
Rawas fry is another appetizer that I tried here and it was quite tasty. The fried fish here is served hot on your plate. Tival and Solkadhi perfectly accompany the fried fish.
Before you order the main course, ask for a sample plate of curries and you'll receive an assorted platter of curries. You can choose the type of fish and the curry to cook it in. I opted for the prawns curry and it was delicious! Served with a side of Khotte idli and prawns tikhale, it turned out to be a great combination. I haven't tried the vegetable dishes here yet but will definitely update my review whenever I do.
You'll find limited options in desserts here, mainly because the seafood meals are quite heavy on the stomach. But I was delighted to see Kharvas on the menu and immediately went for it. Kharvas is made from the first form of milk produced by a cow within 2-3 days of giving birth. Many people don't know about kharvas and I have found myself describing it to people on quite a few occasions. The Kharvas here has a smooth texture and is sweet, soft and moist. Definitely a perfect dish to end your meal here.

As someone with a Konkani family background, the food here tasted exactly like the home-cooked one with the same style of cooking and the use of similar ingredients and spices. Whenever I have visited this place, I have always found atleast one family speaking in Konkani. The restaurant here has tried to replicate the authentic Konkani style of cooking and is quite successful at doing so. I visited this restaurant last week and I have already come back here twice! You'll know what I'm talking about when you visit Fish curry rice.

I was recently here for my Dinner at Fish Curry Rice and I always wanted to visit this place as lot of people recommended this place for their numerous offerings in fish and for what they stand out for is the taste. They have been nominated for the food award too.So starting with my journey here, I was first served Tival which is spicy kokum drink, but really good, followed with I had Solkadhi which is made with coconut milk and kokum which actually helps body to fight diseases. Solkadhi taste actually the same what is prepared in my home so totally loved it.Starting with fish 1. Bombil Thecha Fry:- It is a very delicate fleshy fish which is covered with thecha made with green chillies and fried further giving amazing taste.2. Rawas:- It is a fried fish coated with sooji and totally tasty 3. Chonak:- FCR have introduced this fish newly in their menu and has small pieces are served with 2 chutney. Fried in Coconut oil to make it less oily on hands and plate.4. Stuffed Bangda:- Bangda has very strong smell and taste and to reduce that it was very beautifully marinated and green chilly paste was stuffed in it to enhance the flavours.Further we had Idli with Prawn Curry:- So the plate includes two fluffy idlis with two different kinds of curry, one is red in colour and is tangy and one is orange which is mild and had goan flavours to it.We completed our dinner on sweet note with Kharwas and i must say this is the second place in Pune that serves lipsmacking Kharwas. Totally a must visit place for all the sea food lovers out there.

Fish curry rice is one of the best place to have seafood in Pune. The restaurant is awarded with the best seafood in Pune and also nominated this year as well.
The ambience was pretty good with yellow lightings and walls were covered with Marathi movies pictures.

Firstly we were served with tival. A welcome drink made of kokam. It was sweet and spicy.

Then we had solkadhi another drink made of kokam and coconut milk. It was so refreshing.

Talking about the food we tried:
✓ Bombil thecha fry: Fried bombil fish crispy outside and soft inside, stuffed with famous Maharashtrian spicy chutney thecha.

✓ Ravas: Fried fish coated with rava. Crispy and delicious. Highly recommend.

✓ Chonak fish: Chonak is one of the famous fish mostly available in Goan fish market. So if you visit this place do give it a try.

✓ Prawns aluwadi: Tasted quite similar to usual aluwadi. It was aluwadi stuffed with minced prawns pieces and masala.

✓ Tried 7 different types of curries that includes curry of prawns, mutton, chicken, crabs, fish etc.

✓ Idli with two types of Goan curry: fluffy idlis served with red and orange colour prawns curry. The red curry was tangy yet delicious. The other one was flavourful and comforting.

✓ We ended our meal with kharwas. Kharwas is a Indian milk pudding. It was my first time that I tasted kharwas and I totally loved it.

This outlet on Baner road is much more spacious than the one at law college road. The indoor seating is comfortable and accomodates large groups very well. It is worth noting that the kitchen is clean and tidy with every person inside wearing headcaps.

Apart from the usual thalis, some of the appetisers like their bombil thecha fry, rawas fry and chonak fry are a few items you wouldn't think to order at Fish Curry Rice but would definitely treat your taste buds.
The bombil thecha fry is newly added to the menu and it is just bomb! Definitely my favourite out of the rest. Chonak is a kind of fish only used in goan preparations which I tried for the first time.

I also tried the prawns alu wadi which is exactly like your normal maharashtrian alu wadi stuffed with prawns and masala. This I would say is worth trying once. The stuffed bangda fry wasn't my favourite since I am no fan of bangda.

Their curries are amazing to the taste and always the same for each different fish, each time you visit. Apparently they never mix different curries together. In their ongoing goan festival they've introduced something called a kotte idli which is served along with prawns curry and a tangier version of goan curry.

The kharwas here is yummy but I missed out on the coffee kharwas which I heard is amazing. Definitely trying that the next time.

Located on Baner-Pashan Link Road , Fish Curry Rice is known for serving some delicious fish dishes since quite some time. One must surely try out dishes such as surmai fry, chounak fry,Goan Thali, prawns fry and more. The price might be slightly on a higher side but this is totally justified with the taste and making of each dish. The fish was very fresh and overall final dish was quite tasty and fulfilling. It’s an ideal place for families and even to go with your friends. Overall had a good experience and loved each and every dish. The service was good.

No doubt the best place in Pune for seafood. Must try their Surmai and Pomfret thalis. You can also go for Fish curry, rice and fish fry combination. Portion size in thali is more than sufficient for one person. Also, fish fry is big in size to satisfy your craving and hunger, very delicious.

Amazing food and service. Was traveling from nashik. Reached there by 3.05pm. The kitchen just got closed but the Ajinkya (waiter) had a word with the chefs and served one of the best fish thali I had. Try the prawns fry as well. Super tasty.

Recently I happened to visit this famous restaurant known for their speciality in seafood. As it was my first time to try seafood, I decided to go for a brand name, and hence landed here. Started off the lunch with a fusion appetizer; Prawns Aluwadi. Yes you heard it right. The filling in between the leaves is made of minced prawns mixed with spices. This is a must try here. Pomfret lasooni fry: A huge pomfret well marinated with garlic masala and fried on both the sides. Simply delicious. Surmai naked fry: 2 Thick pieces of the Kingfish, pan fried with just a pinch of salt n pepper. The authentic flavourful taste in every bite of surmai is heavenly. Goan Prawns curry, Karwari Bangda curry, steamed rice, solkadhi: The prawns curry was my personal favorite, when mixed with rice and a bit of solkadhi aaahhh. Trust me there's nothing more blissful at that moment. I didn't like the bangda curry much maybe due to my insufficient knowledge about it's taste. The owner is really a good person with perfect knowledge about seafood right from preparation to the way of eating. As it was my first time, he guided me how to go about it and as a result I enjoyed my meal to it's fullest. Truly a heaven for seafood lovers
