Raaga Thali & Pure Veg Raaga Thali & Pure veg is located in main chowk of chinchwad and primiraly serves Maharashtrian cuisine along with some south Indian dishes. It belongs to the same owners who have a Veg & Non Veg restaurant operating in Nigdi under the name Raaga Multicuisine Restaurant. The décor of this place is impressive with warm lighting making it more pleasant. They have two seating options where ground floor reserved for A La Carte North Indian & South Indian Cuisines and the Upper Floor is dedicated for the Maharashtrian Thali. The seating is very comfortable. We tried below mentioned dishes:- Aam Panha: This was served to us as a welcome drink. It was good in taste Starters: Tandoori Manchurian: Finely chopped vegetables coated with chat masala were done in tandoor. The flour coating was thin. It was served along with mint green chutney and was good in taste. #Recommended Suralichi Wadi: Suralichi Wadi a.k.a Khandvi is a popular snack dish in Maharashtra and is prepared using besan (gram flour). The one which I had at Raaga was truly delicious and was finished in no time. #Highlyrecommended Kothimbir Wadi: The Kothimbir wadi was slightly crisp on the outside and was perfectly fried. It was not at all oily and was served hot.The green chutney served along with it was also delicious. #Highlyrecommended Rawadi Paneer Kebab: The Paneer pieces were super soft and were marinated nicely. It literally melted in my mouth. It was medium spicy and slightly creamy. This dish did impress me a lot. #Highlyrecommended Pahadi Paneer Kebab: This dish was a bit spicy and perfect for my palate. The Green chilly mint and curd based marination was superb in taste. It’s a must have for people who likea bit spicy food. #Highlyrecommended Maharashtrian Thali: The menu for Maharashtrian Thali Keeps on changing every day for lunch and dinner as well. On our visit day we were served with Batata Bhaji(Dry), Katachi Amti, Mattar Usal (Green Peas Curry), Pithla, Phodniche Varan (Dal Fry), and Regular Dal. In Indian bread there was a option for Chapti and Bhakri, Gol Kanda Bhaji and Kothimbir Wadi, Rice – Plain Steam Rice and Veg Dum Biryani, Sweets/Desserts – Ukdiche Modak and Gulabjamuns. Extras were Koshimbir, Thecha/Groundnut Chutney, Papad, Pickle, Onions and Lemons. The thali was truly delicious and it gave a homely feeling. I was really impressed with the balanced flavours in the entire spread. Main Cousre: A La Carte Anguri Cheese Masala: This dish was fully loaded with cheese and cream and was slightly sweet in taste. It was good in taste. #Highlyrecommended Malwani Bhaji: The Traditional Malvani curry was prepared using mixed vegetables and Paneer. It didn’t impress me that, I felt that the vegetable were not able to blend along with the sour and spicy curry. Raaga Special Veg: The dish had two vegetables and was nice on presentation level. The red gravy part was the mixed veg with finely chopped vegeies done in thick medium spicy gravy and the green gravy part was palak paneer. I personally liked the mix veg compared to the palak paneer. Jamun Ka Korma: The dish had deep fried gram flour based balls in thick and rich gravy. It was medium spicy in taste. The masala in gravy was nicely blended and was good in taste. #recommended Bombay Biryani: It had long grain rice along with mixed vegetables prepared in a spicy masala. I was really surprised with this dish. It was full of flavours and nicely balanced. It was served along with raita which was also good. #Highlyrecommened Assorted Breads: The assorted bread basket was nicely done. It was a usual spread. Desserts: Shrikhand & Aamrakhand: In house prepared shrikhand and amrakhad was a treat to my taste buds. It was not too sweet. Ukdiche Modak: Modak were stuffed with coconut and jiggery based filling and were superb in taste. Fruit Custard with Vanilla Ice Cream: Fruit custard with vanilla icecream was superb in taste. The custard was not sweet and complimented the fresh fruits. All desserts which were served were superb and are highlyrecommended. Overall: Service was prompt and restaurant was hygienic. Staff was polite and courteous. Raaga restaurant is a good option for people who are looking for pure veg food with multiple cusines served under one roof. The rates are pretty reasonable. The maharashtrian thali specially is a must have over here which had all the traditional dishes that are prepared in maharashtrain cuisines.

Food tasting invite from Raaga made us to pay a visit. Raaga's ambience was pleasant and welcoming. One floor is set for thanks and another is for ala carte offerings. Kothimbir wadi - A preparation which can be part of meal or tea time snacks. Freshly fried pieces of Kothimbir wadi tasted great. The core part was also fried neatly and had balanced moist texture too. This is something that is gained after a lot of practice. Suralichi wadi - One of the special Maharashtrian & Gujarathi receipe. It takes a lot of iterations to carve out this gem. Mixture of tram flour, coariander and tadka are the ingredients. Evenly spread gram flour on a surface then cutting & rolling it up with minimal breakage/wastage is an ordeal. Practice makes it possible, no doubt. It tasted lovely. Tandoori Manchurian - I was curious to try Tandoori version of Manchurian. Outer surface was dry and sprinkled with masala. Inner portion was soft and moist as expected. It's a nice combination in veg section where tandoori variants are limited. Rawdi Paneer Tikka - One of the best paneer starters I have had. The secret spice used for this dish will always attract me. Very well marinated supersoft paneer. Loved it. Raaga Special Maharashtrian Thali - Thaali had typical Marathi recepies like Pithala, Maasvadi plus Bhendi fry. All receipes taste homely as spices used were mild and not overpowering taste. Chapati was served hot as required. Raaga Special veg - It had 2 vegetables with red and green gravy. Mix veg was in red gravy and the green one was Palak Paneer. Both were good preparations. Dal Makhni - Mild, flavorful daal was lovely. Went well with roti and rice too. Paneer Biryani : Biryani served had nice portions of marinated paneer. Liked the fine lng grains of rice with desired quantity of masala. - Desserts - Amrakhand : This was another surprise. It was a in house preparation. Presence of minute chunks of curd in amrakhand is a differentiator. It acts a a taste enhancer for me. Use of sugar was moderate. Usually amrakhand is made like a sugar bomb at most of the places I have visited. The ones with excess sugar get a glossy appearance. Ukdiche Modak - One of the best I have had ever at any hotel. The covering was done nicely and carefully. It's not an easy job to keep coating intact after filling and steaming Modak. This was a Showstopper from my food experience at Raaga. Something I would love to come back for. Fruit custard with ice-cream : Nicely done. Custard had right amount of sugar. Enjoyed having this after a long time. My experience at Raaga was great. I will make sure to visit Raaga again in near future. Adress - Raaga Thali & Pure Veg Restaurant. Chinchwad Station, Chinchwad.

Thali was good and tasty. But service was not up to the mark. In spite of asking for faster service, there delay in serving the items. The menu of thali is purely maharashtrian & which is unique throughout Pune. This restaurant offers a unique menu on Ganesh Chaturthi by serving: Ukdiche Modak, Jalebi Kothimbir vadi with other regular items of thali.
