Chicken Akbari was beyond expectations! Juicy and tender drumsticks of chicken in medium spicy gravy. Perfect!!
The biryanis are really good over here. I also had a vegetable manchurian which was awesome. Would recommend to try out the tandoori chicken as well :)

One-line review: "One of the best and most authentic Mughlai food I have had across the country"
Located in one of the best localities of Pune, Mughlai Zaika is a Premium restaurant, that can accommodate over 100 patrons at a time, between its indoor and outdoor seating facility.
I had the privilege of personally knowing the owners of the place and hence got the insight that they strictly believe in quality over profit.
They have a 100% no artificial colors and/or preservatives policy. And really, the tandoor starter I had there was looking bright red, but not a single shade of red remained on my fingers after having eaten it, unlike most restaurants wherein the fingers are stained for a few hours after eating anything red.
Now let me elaborate on each of the aspects of the review meticulously:
1 - Food:
I have already briefly spoken about the quality, authenticity, and freshness of the food. To expand:
- I had both Chicken and Paneer starters; both were amazingly well cooked and well presented. I have seldom had paneer that's so well marinated. Usually, it's bland on the inside, but this one was well-done.
- My main course included Mutton and Prawn dishes; Dabba Gosht & Goan Prawn Curry. Both the dishes we had were dishes that not many restaurants get right. Dabba gosht being a Mughlai specialty is only available in a few authentic restaurants, and this place got it right. I was surprised at the freshness of the prawns, as usually in landlocked cities like Pune, sea-food isn't as great as it is in a city like Bombay. I am from Bombay, and yet, I was super impressed with the freshness of the prawns and the overall preparation of the dish.
- The bread we had, included; Butter Lachcha Paratha | Tandoori Roti | Naan; each of them, was soft, tasteful and freshly made.
- Our desserts comprised of some of the best dishes a Mughlai joint can offer; Shahi Tukda, Gulab Jamun, Dhoodhi Halwa. All of them were amazing, and if you have a sweet tooth, this is the place to enjoy your post-meal sweets.
Over-all, it is definitely a good food experience!
2 - Service:
Fast and Prompt
- The waiters were polite and well-spoken. They were not uninterested and were genuinely hospitable. The uniforms of even the B-level staff [the juniors who only serve water] were also clean and well-maintained. I usually have a huge problem when waiters serve water and/or food and have body-odor and stinking or unwashed uniforms, but this place got that right too.
- Even though we were a family of 12+ people and a few of them were vegetarians, the waiters were sensitive and mindful of the segregation, and we only had to tell them the bifurcation of who is veg and who is non-veg, once!
3 - Ambiance
Bright, Clean and Premium
- The approach to the place is right at the main road, and hence, it's not difficult to find.
- The whole place, from the entrance to the washrooms, is extremely well lit. so there is no dingy, shady feeling at all.
- The chairs and tables are new and well-maintained. the roof is high, giving it an overall rich feel.
- There is no smell, smoke or noise in the place and one can enjoy a peaceful meal with their family. The place is extremely spacious and hence the tables are not placed too close to each other, which really helps with the overall premium feel. It doesn't get too compact at all.
Like I mentioned in my one-line review, I enjoyed this dining experience and definitely look forward to coming here every time I am in town.

At the first glance this restaurant caught my attention. They have a much refined interior and exterior. The outdoor seating makes it more cozy and comfortable. The hospitality is really good. Me and my colleague went for non vegetarian menu. The food was lovely. Overall it is a great option to visit with your family and friends.
The place isn't that fancy but the food is simply awesome. For Non Vegetarians, do try the Chicken Changezi for its amazing smokey and cheesy flavour. And ofcourse our all-time favorite Chicken Tikka. Amazing flavour.

Really comfortable ambience, Persian decor added with Persian music. The food is delicious and value for money. The staff is friendly and caters to the customers needs by patiently listening.
The menu covers vegetarian and well as non vegetarian Mughlai food. Never too crowded and has parking space for two wheelers.
Good service, good food.. say no caramel custard is worse dont order.
Loved the food, especially Butter Garlic Chicken Drum sticks. Though service is slow and multiple times we had to remind waiters about our order. Will definitely visit next time for biryani!
It was a treat. Clean cutlery and okay atmosphere and high pricetag aside, the food, which matters most, was delicious. We ordered mutton biryani, among other things. The aroma of the rice and spice was flawless. The mutton dissolved in my mouth leaving a rich taste. I am going again. I encourage anyone else to do so as well, so long as you dont mind their prices. Oh and the quantity was fairly good but the waiter did not return to serve second time. Or else itd be a 5 starrer.
