We discovered this gem during our recent trip to Kovalam. The cafe is located on a cliff overlooking the beach, and provided excellent view of the ocean and the cliff. We ordered fish from their fresh catch, which was grilled to perfection, and served with a side of salad and fries. We also had scoops of vanilla ice cream which tasted refreshing.
The drawbacks are its location in a less accessible place with no adjoining parking space. The road leading to the cafe is across the beach, and up the cliff, which is atleast 200 meters from the parking space. For kids and elderly, it may not be easy.
The hotel is farther from the main kovalam beach, and not accessible, unless you are staying in one of the resorts nearby.
It's better to visit the place in groups, so that the food can be shared.
Above average price (1400rupees for a big fish enough for two people) but the grilled red snapper fish tasted really great. Cash only accepted. At this price range of the fish I hope they will accept card payment soon.
We were looking for a local restaurant with fresh & good fish. Curry leafs is a great one if you look for charm, friendly yet quick and polite service. Fish fry and prawns really tasty as well as the other choices.

1. Vast menu- Plenty of options for vegetarians as well. Vast variety of fresh seafood dishes
2. View from the restaurant is great. It has a sea view. Absolutely amazing
3. Have to struggle a bit to reach the restaurant as literally there is no proper road nearby it. It was difficult for my parents to climb.
4. Price wise it is a bit expensive but considering the location, it is worth it
5. Taste- Taste was okayish. Not too great, not too bad. But still better than other restaurants available there.
6. Vibe - 5/5. Very cozy. We went during dinner and we absolutely loved the vibe
7. Servicing- 4/5. Loved the dine in experience but they informed us that they also do home delivery. However we tried to call them repeatedly but no one received or called us back.
Excellent seafood served here, with a pleasant and chilled out view. Tried prawns, snappers, chilli chicken, kerala porotta. Everything was well made.
With beautiful views out over the beach and a wonderful range of local dishes, Curry Leaf is really worth a visit. My daughter and I were lucky enough to regularly eat breakfast and dinner there during our Yoga Retreat. The service was so good and so friendly. Johnson overseas everything and could not be more helpful or cheery. Thank you for helping make out recent stay so very special.
Food is good but a little pricey. Staff are polite and humble. Restaurant has a nice panoramic view of kovalam beach. Overall nice experience. One negative can be is the fact that there is no road access. One has to climb a small hill from kovalam main beach to reach the restaurant. But, the view is worth the effort.
Probably the best food we’ve had since being in Kovalam. We are staying at the Leela hotel and found the food and beer at the Curry Leaf to be really good and half the price of the hotel. Just make sure you take cash. We keep forgetting card payments are not available everywhere in India and couldn’t therefore leave a tip

Just had my breakfast - best masala dosa in Kovalam. Crispy dosa, not oily, comforting masala & coconut chumundi to die for.
