A cornered restraurent, with much space in that. Well staff. Good food with service.. the food will be always hot. They provide you hygenity, and quality of taste
Santosh is one of the best places to have authentic Dal Baati Churma, that too at pocket friendly prices. Each thali costed 80 Ruppes which had 4-5 baati, dal, chutney, ghee and onions. The baatis are cooked in burning wood and thus have a smokey flavor. Churma was the highlight of the meal, and was cooked just the way I like it.
Were feeling hungry at 10:40 in night. Friend suggested santosh bhojanalay for authentic and good rajasthani dinner. In just a small amount of ₹70 you get a great taste of dal, bati, pudina chutney, sabji and gheee!! Must try and add a plate of churma for ₹40/- you will love it
Ahana ..writing a review with watering mouth..it's famous for daal baati..so if u r interested in Rajasthani food and want to try daal baati..this is the place in udaipur
A tale of two haute cousins-
on my recent visit to Udaipur I had the fortune to taste some authentic Rajasthani delicacies the review of which is a crime without the mention of the beloved Dal baati churma, an excellent combination of bland, spicy n sweetness . Its round texture, composition n preparation reminded me of of Bihar's humble lotto chokha but they shouldn't b taken as same. Both the dishes owe their origins to different kingdoms n time period- Baati to Mewar n litti to Magadh.
Udaipur's famous Santosh dal Baati, offers authentic Dal Baati churmi at an affordable rate. This delicious roasted/baked Baati is served warm ,crushed with a dash of Desi Ghee n eaten with spicy Daal, hot chutney ,raw chopped onions, sour kadhi n sweet Churma. These concoction of different tastes n aromas gives its a unique blend that awakens ones taste buds.
It serves "the best" dal baati churma in the entire city!! This is dhaaba food at its best! We ate here twice during our 3-day trip to Udaipur!!
Just ignore the ambience, and concentrate on the food alone, and the chances are that you would soon forget where you're seated :-P
And don't forget to taste the pudina chutney!!
A superb combination of Rajasthani Thali. Dal Bati with churma. Dal is mixed Dal and Bati is full of Ghee onion, cucumber in salad makes it super delicious. But Place looks lil bit unhygienic.
Hole in the wall eatery with no pretentions to be otherwise. Awesome Dal batti that is finger licking good, easy on the pocket. The rating is for that and that alone.
A simple restaurant serving traditional rajasthani homely food. And your order should be ...What it is famous for..daal baati and churma. Opted for the unlimited meal consisting of daal , bhatti roasted baatis (traditional way of making) dazzled with ghee and the churma. Also, they serve gatte ki sabji and buttermilk along with this..And all this leaves you happy and content.Sllluurrppp😋😋
On my wonderful 2 day visit to Udaipur, I craved for authentic Dal Bati from the minute I stepped into the city.
I was directed to this famous joint which is running successfully for a very long time right amidst the city.
The unlimited fixed menu thali system was something I was used to, being a resident of Ahmedabad for 2 years, but this one was a total delight!
No red and green typical North Indian gravy, no excess oil covering the contents of the dish and nothing I've had before.
Everything item on the plate (5-6 items) felt extremely healthy for consumption and did great justice to its traditions.
Heros of the meal:
The garlic chutney
The aloo gobhi stir fry (potato & cauliflower)
The simple radish salad 🥗
The extremely humble staff
Even after having 3 huge batis, and all those items on the plate, I had no regrets for a stuffed tummy!
Although the ambience lacks the charm of a fancy restaurant since it's only a small and ancient joint, maintaining its authenticity as it is, the food will grow on you soon enough to distract you from the environment. 😃
I would recommend everyone to visit this place on their visit to Udaipur!👍🏼
