South Indian food here is great specially the sambar. Food packing is good too.
They should start one authentic Marathi पेय ( Sol kadhi )
Nice joint to relish south Indian dishes & their signature dish "The Puna Misal"! . Many memories attached to the original outlet of Canara coffee house.
Always a delight!!!! Have been going to this place when it had its old restaurant and today went it to the new one after the old got demolished. Its my go to place for a nice healthy brunch! I love the south indian dishes, and their poona misal. Its pocket friendly for sure.
Fantastic experience, nice service, good food in short time.
What I ordered - Sada Dosa, Masala Dosa, Idli Sambhar, Vada Sambhar, Batata Vada Mango Sharbat, masala uttapa and filter coffee.
Canara coffee house is classic and one of the oldest cafes in town. If you are craving for delicious and authentic south Indian food at pocket friendly prices, this is the place to visit. Their sharbats are a must have whenever you visit this place. This place is a good choice for breakfast as they serve quality tea and filter coffee. The waiters serve efficiently and the wait time is very less.
Totally love the Upma and Poona misal . The dahi Wada and sada dosa is also amazing. This place is super affordable and a total value for money. It’s a good choice for breakfast.
My father introduced me this cafe years ago when we used to come for shopping in city. And today I tried one of my favorite dish at this cafe after around five years and I found the same test. Thank you Canara Cafe for being here for long time. Will surely cone back again for the same dish and other more as well.
One of the oldest south-indian cafes in the town. Previously, they were based near Sursagar & Fire Station.
They are mainly known for their famous puna-misal dish. But, they have large varieties of dosas and uttapam available. Their new location started near Akota /Dandia Bazaar bridge is quite spacious and has downstairs (waiting area) and upstairs (for dine-in seating).
Now, they even serve pav bhaji and other Indian cuisine alongside dahi wada, dosas, utappams and much more.
Do give it a try, I am pretty sure you will like the taste of uttapams, dosas, dahi wada and puna misal; rest I haven't got a chance to taste.
For puna misal, they say that it doesn't taste good after they moved to their new location. But, one can only confirm once they try it by themselves. I am not sure as I haven't ordered the puna misal yet at the new site.
Excellent place to sit and have snacks. Canara coffee house is a generation old, it was built in 1950s. Now they occupied new building. The food tastes more or less same. The service is terrific and lighting fast. The sitting area and interior are well designed.
This is the oldest cafe/ coffee house which started in 1950s . It has the same authentic dosa and lovely filter coffee... It's signature poonamisal is yummy. They still have the same furniture which gives you a nostalgic feeling.
Old and well known place in Vadodara for quick bite.

It was definitely a hype for me , so I had to go .
Place was packed with customers on the first floor but lucky me I got place as soon I reached .
A local guy who soon became a friend of mine recommend that I try Poona misal so I got that .
It was good along with that I tried Bataka Vada which is nothing but Batata Vada as in mashed potatoes in a crispy batter it was nice not oily
Also I tried both the mango and pineapple sharbat and I was not disappointed . It was nice and refreshing drink
Lot of other things could have been tasted ! Next time for sure !
If you are around do try ! No regrets for sure 😌
Traditional Vadodara cafe since 1950 relocated at lakdipul, Very own speciality is Puna Misal with unmatched taste. Dosa , dahi vada, Vada sambhar, Uttapa and juices are available with the authentic Taste.
I love this place
1. It was the first Café I went when I came Vadodara for the first time.
2. It is one of the oldest cafes of Vadodara. Established in 1950
3. They serve only South Indian food and they stop serving tea/coffee after 4 pm
4. They have recently relocated from the earlier place!
5. The hygiene they have maintained is amazing
6. The washroom is super clean
7. The food is still budget friendly!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

The is newly opened outlet of the legendary “Canara Coffee House”. Old one was inside the old city, which was shut down due to its poor condition. The cafe has a history of over 50+ years. It’s on the bucket list of every Vadodara Visitor. They have amazing Puna Misal and tomato omlet. Great pocket friendly place for a quick bite. If you are going to have tea/coffee, try to go before 2 PM as they usually run out of milk by that time.
