Review Sankalp Restaurant - Vadodara

Shailendra Soni
It is good South Indian restaurant however Sambar is okay. Service is good , we visited Sunday morning so less people and get decent service.
Yuvraj Modi
Restaurant was kept neat & clean with maintained hygiene. Staff was polite. Food had authentic sankalp South Indian taste. Ample parking available outside.
Naveenkumar Gounder
Food was awesome and suitable for south indians who want authentic and for someone who wants something fancy in dosa. Nice place with good vibe. Little bit costly but worth for it.

The best part about South Indian food is the freshness and non spicy taste ..Sankalp is undoubtedly maintained the same...Service and atmosphere of this restaurant is good...The notable part about this restaurant is the utensils not sure but some high quality metal...And the unique thing at the end they offer is the pan... Keep it up team👍

ㅤ It’s a great experience. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. Amazing dosas, food and service. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and make great recommendations.

Favorite restaurant for South Indian food in Vadodara. Ordered a delivery (crisp dosa and medu vada) via Zomato. Food's great as always, neat and clean packing. Loved it.
Hetav Bhatt
Food is definitely good for South Indian dishes. Masala Idly was good.

It's ok Tasty food, quality n service is also good
Abhishek Rawat
The food was tasty, but the service could use some improvement. However, the lack of liveliness in the atmosphere left something to be desired.
Regimon George
South Indian food. Dosa and iddly not up to the mark. Uthappam was outstanding.

I am a big fan of South Indian food and what else could be a good option other than Sankalp.
Vrajesh Shah
Fast service. Avoid going sundays . All dosa and typical chutneys are tasty. Specialized sankalp special dosa.
Hunger Craving
Best place to eat dosa but now a days menu is changed and the price is quite high dosa ment to be cheap or middle in price but this place has make this quote wrong what a high price so before we frequently go there as 2-3 time a month although it was little bit far from our place but after words we should find something budget friendly place near by home

A great South-Indian restaurant in Vadodara, but on a costlier side. Was suggested by a friend and went here for dinner. We tried the tomato soup for starter, and it wasn't that great. Ordered the Paneer Dosa, which had very small 4 pieces for the exorbitant cost! The filing inside it was great, with Paneer burji. The sambhar rice is a must try though, with good quantity and reasonable cost. For dessert we went for Kesary, a great sweet with dry fruits like cashew and raisins. But the major problem was the bill, where the waiter included different items to the ones we had ordered, and charged us more. The ambience and service at the place was great and the staff was courteous and fast. Overall, a great place for South Indian food, if your budget is on the higher side.

We ordered schezwan cheese Dosa but the waiter served us some other dosa instead of schezwan.. when we told him, he started arguing with us. Finally we had to call the manager who then resolved the issue and sent schezwan dosa. Also, when we were still eating our dessert, the waiter comes and puts the bill on our table. What kind of service is that??? Very disappointed with the service
Sunil Thaker
worst ever food DOUBLE LAYERED UTTAPAM , FILLING OF MASALA VERY BAD AND TASTE AS STALE FOOD. ONE OF THE MOST PRAISED SAMBAR WAS EVEN MORE WORST.
IT NOW SEEMS THAT SANKLAP IS OVER RATED AND QUALITY HAS GONE TO THE LAST STAGE OF WORST RATING.
Jaymin Shah
Over hyped. Over priced. It's vadodara's finest I imagine. Everything that's on the menu is a tiny sized portion. I don't get enough to really say I tasted the best south Indian style food ever.
Prem Dave
Disappointed. The name of the restaurant would suggest that they know how to make a good Dosa and accompaniments that come with Dosa. However that is not the case. We ordered Onion Dosa, Cilantro Masala Dosa and Pani Puri. The Dosas was average (not bad but not good either). The accompaniments (chutney and sambar) were terrible. Their Sambar had bell peppers and other veggies that are never used to make sambar. I assume that they were used simply because they were inexpensive compared to other ingredients that are supposed to be used. The chutneys were meh. Their peanut chutney was decent. Their coconut chutney was watered down and lacked any taste or texture. It tasted like they just mixed some under-cooked spices with frozen coconut flakes. Tomato chutney was terrible too

we made a reservation for Sunday night, after driving and finding parking in the rain, we were to discover that it is closed. No one call me to tell me this. How sad that we wanted to support this restaurant, but to no avail, it only left a bad taste is our mouth. Get you act together! I will highly recommend that none of my friends go here. Sad for you

We had eaten at Sankalp in Mumbai earlier and had loved our experience. So decided to try it at Baroda as well. Needless to say, we were not at all disappointed. The food was really delicious. The idlis were soft and fresh. The Rawa onion dosa was one of the best we’ve ever eaten... loaded with lots on onions, coriander and jeera. Rasam and filter coffee were also good. The curd rice, however, was a bit too cold and slightly sour. But they replaced it with another dish as soon as we brought it to their attention. So service also gets a thumbs up. The paan that they serve at the end of the meal is always an added incentive.

You will always find compromise with taste in rush hours specially during festive season. Not at all value for money..!! Over rated restaurant...
Dhananjayjhala2199
There is no better place than this for authentic and mouth watering South Indian food ! Usually I order idli- vada, one Mysore masala dosa and one cold coffee but I’ve tried the other things too and they all are as tasty but Mysore masala is a win-win for me! Very awesome, clean and calm place.
Arifa🍉
What I ordered-
Rasam idli - even though i was craving plain idli ao that i could dip it in sambhar and chutney,
i also was craving something spicy hence ended up ordering these and who licked till the last? Me!!! Everything from idli and the rasam, everything was so darn good!
Triple dosa- since one dosa is never enough, ordered these and filled our tummies with all the goodies for 3 times! :p
Kavika97
Despite reminding the restaurant for keeping adequate sambhar , the quantity of sambhar sent was inadequate. We had ordered three dishes but there was not even three bowls of sambhar. Also the container was not sealed. Not happy with their service.

Here the restuarant is very good place but very costly but you pay you get quality and best food and Authentic south Indian Here the place is very good

What ? Cheese corn dosa.
Where ? Sankalp restaurant
Price : 250
Rate :4/5

We tried the spring dosa /235 and schezwan dosa /255 too..
Even theirs masala dosa and onion rava dosa also good .

Sankalp is a udipi restaurant chain and they spread their business across India and even other countries too. So my guest from USA want to eat something light . They choose to go Sankalp cos they are very familiar with this restaurant and they trust this place and their food.

As we tried so many different varieties of dosa’s and we are satisfied with their service, food quality and quantity too.

#southindianfood #dosas #foodblogger #foodbloggers #foodies #foodiesofinstagram #foodlover #foodporn #foodphotography #foodiestaaa #vadodara

To costly and without taste. Try street food instead. Or try 1) 22nd parallel 2) city south. Service also not good. The taste of food is like it's been prepared for some ill person.

I have been a Big Fan of Sankalp but the Order I received through Zomato on 12th June, 2019, Disappointed me..Even after the Delivery Guy from Zomato mentioned the problem with packing, they said it’s okay !! Sending pictures of the packing for Sankalp reference..
Shruti Rav

I was travelling to Vadodara with parents and looking for a safe vegetarian eating place at the end of the day. Sankalp, I believe is an Udipi reataurant chain and thus selected thia place as a safe option for south indian food.

The food was fantastic as expected but still rating it at 4 star. We ordered Idli, Dosas, Uttapas and Medu vada which was all fine except Medu Vada. I am sure that would also have been a fantastic serving on a regular day but it was obviously not made of Medu Bada batter for our order.

Appreciate the restaurant staff for not saying no to our order at the end of the day even after probably have run out of the batter. But not rating a full 5 star as what they served did not match up to the quality and taste.
Mital
The food was pathetic i ordered. Just uttapam was good otherwise idly was messed up, chatni smelled weird. Not happy at all.
Very Disappointed.
Jalpa Amin
No usage of Gold membership here . Whats the purpose of gold members. Good food but need to use the gold membership benefits.

Hygienic food of south India
Prpandya2212
After a long time I visited sankalp again, but the taste was awesome and same....authentic southindian food in gujju style...and thats wht a gujju likes...its malgapudi chatni is good.they dont serve it if u hvnt ask for it, so do ask for that yummy malgapuri chatni
Aakash Amin
The food we ordered was kerrai dosa, chettinad dosa and kurmura masala dosa with lemon lime soda in the beverage and brownie and vanila.the place is must for south indian food.
Krishna Patel
Dosa was nice...but they pcked hot sambhar n chatanis in thin plastic bags..so that is so harmful for health...plastic is banned for food rapping specially hot food...then why they are not following that...they must provide proper container for packing of sambhar like things...it must not be in such plastic bags...this was not at least expected from such a big food chian like Sankalp..well known for it's food
Sarang Agrawal
I went there with my parents , it was quite crowded but they still managed to make us seated comfortably without waiting. The food came pretty quick as well and was good n hot. Only concern was their chutneys taste has changed
Avinash Shirsat
Good taste, well cooked, Idlis were nice and white coconut chutney was good, sambhar was tasty, halwa was great, salad and boondi were also tasty, Dal Khichdi was a bit disappointment but overall good experience, could be better, look out for photos posted by me
Harshil
One of the best South Indian restaurants I have ever seen and all the types of dishes are delicious and should try once if you haven’t been there.
Hardik Bhatt
One time go for South Indian those who like it
I had ordered vada the taste was not good it was hard not crispy
I had ordered Madurai cheese double masala Uttappam not worth

Spacious, little over-priced,delicious, good ambience. Tried here 1st time today Onion Tomato Uttapam and found chutney and sambhar delicious uttapam too and found these qualities in this restaurant. If you like South Indian food you too should visit this place sometime...

Sankalp - an unbeatable name in south cuisine.

I frequently visit whenever I get the chance and their service always please me.

Staff is so humble and helpful, however this time they misunderstood my order, I ordered Cheese Maysoor Masala Dhosa but they forgot to add Cheese so I have brought this into their attention, they apologized and immediately replaced my dhosa as well.

Highly recommended for all south lovers.

Visit and have fun !!! 😉

little delay but amazing food

Bhaumik Soni
The interior badly needs renovation. Water was dripping from the ceiling, though the food was amazing. The ambience was average. Overall good but the ambience we pay for is not good.
Nirav Thadeshwar
One of the best places to have south Indian cuisine there is no doubt in it ... The sambhar here is unmatched ... The uniqueness is that the taste of sanklap is constant all over India which I really appreciate and salute the chef's to reproduce it in the same manner .. bravo. .
Saurabh Khandelwal
nice
Hetal Vansia
Sankalp is one of the oldest south indian restaurants in vadodara.. it offers a host of variety dishes who wish to have south indian with a twist.. the sambhar is excellent..

Authentic south Indian restaurant with good variations to the standard menu. Location is good n easy to spot in traffic. Prices are slightly on the higher side.
Saket
Food is amazing over here. Service is fast and exceptional.
Must visit place for the love of dosa and idli. They have varieties of dosa and idli.
Cheese crispy idli is personal favourite
BIMEN
if u wanna have good gujju south Indian food combined with pleasant ambience, seating arrangements, service and cleanliness in baroda, than this is it.although being a pure south Indian restaurant the options are limited and each platter will be accompanied by the same sambhar and coconut chatni, the quality, quantity and taste is great.yes price is relatively on the higher side, but worth .must try rava, capsicum dosa,Nd carrot and beat uttappa.
Anjali Sikdar
The best south Indian available in gujarat. I’m a half South Indian and so I know the authentic taste of it and trust me I’m always disappointed at other places but Sankalp is the place for South Indian!
Tasneem Kachwala
dosa was supper amazing! loved the taste.
Raveen K Pai
Straight to point. For an authentic south Indian this is a real money waster, for rest yes can really introduce the taste palate of the south Indian cusines not quite authentic.
Jaya Lalwani
the rasam was not actually rasam
CupidTravellers
If you love South Indian food then this could be the place you should visit once at least. Our parents love this hotel as they are one of the oldest chain of restaurants known for South Indian delicacies. If you talk about me then I like the bhaji dhosa the most as it is spicy. The sambar test is really good. It's a good restaurant to visit with family.
Ritesh
Very little attention paid in cleanliness. Filthy couches, used toothpicks lying near the windows, dirty walls and ceilings and flickering lights dont make an ambience for which the customer is made to pay a premium charge to eat here. Food is good but not good enough to make up for the poorly maintained property!
Puja Chhatrapati
They served stale uncooked food. Very poor service. Couple of request nobady listened to us.we are not satisfied with compare to earlier taste. & quality. Very bad experience
Piyush Randad
Had an opportunity to taste variety of South Indian Food under one roof. A wide variety of South Indian Food with good taste. But some of the items were just ok.
Abhishek
Decent staff and good service.
Though it takes a little while to serve you but you will not regret the wait time while enjoying the real south indian taste.
Visit with your friends and family. Authentic south indian restaurant in vadodara.
Jay Patel
Ambiance is good taste is authentic staff is good and services are great. Also this restaurant chain holds the limca record making longest dosa everr.
Daiwatjoshi
This is a most basic place to have a good south Indian food. Ambience is also not very bright but simple and sober. They have good trained staff. Quality is still better than most south Indian restaurants. Overall a good experience.
Heta Pandya
Sankalp is known for its good south indian food and dis outlet didn't disappoint... Had been their for friend's bday. Service was good. We had malabari smthing, cheez corn and spring dosa.. everything was good and tasty.. had sizzling chocolate brownie at last, that is a mandatory things for my visit at sankalp.. overall, had nice time...
Avneet Thairiani
It's been over 2 years since I have been here, so this review could be wrong. However, at my last visit, the staff was rude, the place was filthy with food strewn all over the floor and chairs and no one bothered to clean it and finally the food was very forgettable. So please tell me things have changed here.
Sachin Shah
# South Indian food then Sankalp is one of best options in Baroda. Good taste and service as always.
Needs renovation as it's long time having same ambience.
Vatsal Shah
The food is average.
The price which they are charging is too much. They should seriously watch out the other food providers in city.
The cost is 1.5 times than the other
Malini Roy
This is THE taste of South India. Finally the flag of authenticity can be planted here. Good hospitality. Patient serving. Decent interiors, but to top it all, mouth watering taste. The chutneys reminded me of the variety of chutneys that I used to have in prestigious chain "Chutneys" in Hyderabad.
Shall surely pay a visit again.
Only thing, price is on the higher side!
Bansal Himanshu
Oonchi dukan Feeke pakwan!!!!
No taste.
Less variety.
Very high price.
A lot of south-Indian Restaurants are there which serve brilliant food and are affordable.
Waste of money
Akshay Krishna
I'm South Indian. This is not good South Indian food. But I guess I was expecting too much in Vadodara. I didn't like the dosas much but they make fine idly.
Conveniently located in GEB circle near tomatoes.
I hope they can concentrate on intricate details that make the difference. They home deliver also I guess so just be lazy and eat South Indian.
[Foodie_Chandigarh] Akshit Shrivastava
Came her to eat with the family and it seemed like a nice place for a family outing if you're looking for South Indian food. The staff seemed quite courteous too.

I personally loved the Cheese Corn Dosa, and everyone else liked the Dosas they ordered.
The service was slow though.

Food-4/5
Value for money-3.5
Ambience-3.5
Service-3/5
Dheera Gurnani
Famed south India restaurant of Baroda was finally in my list!!

Service : long line on a Sunday. Was given a token number but people broke the line anyways, which is not cool.

Food:
Onion Vada : was good and soft
Onion rava Masala dosa : decent
Panchratna uttapama : amazing and with good variety
Veg biryani : amazing

The sambhar was okayish and so were other chutney. The only thing worth drooling green chutney.

Money : the bill was around 800 which is decent enough.

nice place to visit, better than 22nd parallel
Shachi Baxi (Nextdoornaari)
Great place, good taste and quality maintained over the years.
Have tried the mint dosa at many places but nothing comes close to Sankalp!
We always visit when in need of a quick South Indian fix.
Parth Shukla
Well dosa uttapam idli wada the food itself can make you feel satiating and satisfactory .Cleanliness is an issue dosa can be felt literally felt via the batter made .Or the days it has been lying in kitchen fridge .The standards were top class and they started making money and now literally don't care what they serve.atleast they are still sticking to south indian and did not go into all Italian indian cuisines makes it worth a visit .
Kunal Srivastava
Went for dinner for two. Ordered 1 butter idli, 1 vaghar idli and 1 kara mura dosa. All the items were pretty good. But when you're reviewing a south Indian restaurant, 22nd parallel has pretty much become the benchmark for me overall, in Vadodara. So, compared to that I'd rate the taste just a tad below 22nd. For ambience I'd have to say sankalp offers a much better dining experience, be it the quiet environment or the neat cutlery or the seating in the restaurant. The pricing is a bit on the higher side relatively, but not on absolute measures. The menu offers a wider range of items and I'm sure all of them will be equally good. At the end they offer a paan which was quite different and unexpectedly pretty good. For me I'd have to revisit a couple more times with an open mind to make up my mind. But for now i place this just below its prime competitor and strongly suggest a visit if you're looking for a change.

When it comes to South Indian cuisine that too in vadodara the only thing comes to my mind is Sankalp 😘😘 it has the exceptional value of taste 😍😍 truly recommend for the south Indian lovers!! Spring dosa,
Idli,
Maysore masala,
Dahi wada,
Paper dosa
I personally recommend to taste😋😋
With the flavours of South, to beat the heat these were heaven on earth😇😇 so pleasent so delicious so luxurious to end the entire meal!
Pinecolada
Carribian fruit punch
Lemon lychee fizz
Lip smacking with mouth full of flavours, what else you can ask for ✌️
SANKALP👍💞 is it!!
Bhavin Shah Food Troll, Health Elf, Fun Human
Have eaten here twice only and wouldnt rate more than 3 as Ive eaten South Indian in places like Ramashray, Cafe Madras, Amba Bhavan, etc. in Mumbai.

However, this place is well managed and the food is definitely good and one can have a good time with friends and family. Would surely visit again when I get a chance and try some other challenging dishes like the Mysore rava sada utappa, rasam vada, etc
Mudra Patel
This is one of my all time favourite place for South Indian food. Crispy onion vada is my favourite in starters and the got plenty of verities in main course and trust me I can assure you I've tried everything and for desert brownie is my all time favourite most important they give you complimentary paan which is yummy. The staff is also well trained. It is worth going there.
Harsh Modi
I would have rated it 4 or more, but i am a big Sankalp Kaikari Biryani fan and i visited the place for biryani only, but was bit disappointed; as it tasted and looked more like pulao instead of biryani. There is consistency in taste of Dosa and other dishes at all the sankalp outlets in different cities but this was my 2nd experience of bad Kaikari Biryani at another sankalp outlet (first one was at Sankalp, Gandhidham and worst than this one).

Consider the rating 4+ if it is about Dosa and all over ambiance of the outlet.
Nidhi Jatania
Its a brand .. I have been here numerous times and it does not require a certification :)
They know their Sankalp .. The sankalp to serve people quality and Great south Indian .. They do so !!
Loved the new big Colored bottles in which they serve water (with Tusli).. Ah not to forget their crockery .. By far the best i have had food in.. U feel like a ROyAl ;)
SHIVKUMAR SALUNKE PATIL
As my wife wanted to eat medu Wada
we went to Sankalp restaurant across the world....

We ordered medu Wada and panchavarna uttapa( capsicum,beetroot,masala,onion,tomato)....

The way of presenting food and accompaniment were superbbbb...

Especially Sambhar in Aladin's Diya was quite amazing.

And last but not the least mitha paan was just soft and mouth watering....

Authentic and delicious food.. fast service...good Interior... Overall food reminds me south India trip. Good experience...

Poonam
Ashish Mrug
South Indian food = Sankalp. Huge place, number of tables but wait that doesn't mean u will find one easily on a weekend. Food is no doubt great but sometimes you may feel that whether it's worth it?
Must have sizzling brownie and filter coffee.
Abhishek Kuntmal
This is the place where you can have authentic South Indian Dishes. Rates are affordable. The best dish of Sankalp is Paper Sada Dosa & Masala Dosa with Butter.
Kajal
Food is very good the real taste food thank you and service
People is also very tarained we should come back again the realy pesa wasool food
Ninad Joshi
Great Food, Affordable, Family Friendly. The Sambar is really nice, as it is right next to Ginger Hotel, it's really convenient place for dinner.
Viraj Deshpande
Food is fine, but it's really too expensive. So if you want to empty your pockets on some authentic South Indian food go ahead.
Food quality is good and location is also fine.
Toshan Lal Sahu
It's a mixture of all good things you can imagine. Food, ambience and service are better than any other South Indian restaurant. The best part is their presentation which will make you revisit this place. And that Paan along with the bill is like Cherry on the cake.
Kandarp Shah
Okay kinda place for south Indian food. Good ambiance but food is above average...not upto the mark. You will find better options for south Indian food at this rate. Once in a while is okay...
Mayur Sadhuramani
If you wanna go for a family dinner and prefer south Indian, then Sankalp is the place. Awesome food, delicious chutneys and a very humble staff.
Swati Chitalia
South Indian food is South Indian food whether you are in south, east , west or north india!
Have loved the taste and quality of food on Sankalp since the begiinning and this one is no exception. The sada dosa, the rava masala, the rice items all are good.
Only they have made the sambar a bit sweet, maybe bcoz it's Gujarat? And gujjus like sweeter taste?
Shama Handa
Excellent South Indian Cuisine restaurant. They offer so many varieties of dosa, uttappam, upma and much more. Service was fast even during the peak hours and the food served was always hot and fresh. The best dish they offer in desserts is the sizzling Hot Chocolate Walnut Brownie.
Jay Modi
Nice & unique taste of south.
Service & ambiance also good.
Vaghar idli , malabari parotha with curry also good. Once check in & check out really yummy Flavours of southern dishes.
Amandeep Mittal
Have visited it couple of times in the past and this time again it didn't disappoint.Spring Dosa and Capsicum Chilly Garlic Dosa were amazing as always.A place,to give a try,for South Indian food lovers.
Tejas
Excellent quality of south indian food.
Very wide range of dosa available.
A must go for south indian foodie.
Cheese dosa are delight.
Nice ambience
Rushikesh Warkari
Nice food.... Variety of south indian dishes with authentic spices....somewhat costly compared with city's cost of fooding!...if you are craving for taste of south... The only this restaurant will satisfy
Rahul Sonthalia
Very poor food and service... Was good sometime back ...... but the taste has deteriorated over time...HV better places to go for south Indian..
Anil
They just charge for the franchise's. Not even a single penny worth. Idlis are lying in there freeze for 2 days. Dosas got no taste at all. I rather eat south indian on streets.
CA Sagar Desai
Over years the quality has deteriorated. The brownie served as dessert is yuks in taste and seems they are not serving good quality brownie. Rest all south indian cuisine also not upto mark.
Mansi Desai
No doubt that they serve the best south Indian cuisine. I should say south Indian is synonymous to Sankalp. Loved each and every thing that we ordered. Even the desserts were yummy.
Mohammed Kathawala
When it comes to south Indian food I like this place. Whatever city you go, you are ought to find one.

In this competitive age Sankalp is loosing it's edge and needs to buck up.
Rathod Nidul
Sankalp is a brand and they maintain it well in any city. A proper south Indian food, you get all the typical south varieties. The ambiance is nice. The staff is good.

Unlimited sambhar and chatney!! What else to Indian need??

Its a one stop for south Indian. Only concern is the waiting part during weekend.
Chaitanya Bhave
If you want to have south Indian food with a touch of fusion then you shall enjoy here. Flavours are used thoughtfully.
For cheese lovers the way they serve the cheesy versions of their dishes is great. For those who want to have a subtle cheesy flavour, you may request to have the proportion of cheese in lesser amount than the usual.
In a nutshell, great ambience and great food. Service is the area with room for development.
