Located near dashashwamedh ghat, small space, Pasta in red sauce with cheese is really good. Quantity is also good. Check their timings before going.
A wonderful little cafe tucked away in the bylanes of the historical city of Varanasi, this was the go to place during my family's three day visit there. freshly prepared and amazing to taste, this is a must visit if you are in town. we tried the Chinese dishes as well as the veg thaali and they were upto the mark.
I had a wonderful special veg thali here for lunch. It says a lot about the place that it lived up to the very high ratings on Tripadvisor and hence, my expectations.
The ambiance is good, nice decor, books are kept in shelf, you can read them. The service is a bit slow, only a child was working as a waiter, I didn't like it. We had the Veg thali, it was tasty, pure and simple. The rotis were soft and fluffy. Mostly the foreigners were there. In the backyard the husband wife couple was cooking and they were courteous to the guests.
Small desi place with beautiful cafe setting - clean, airy, wifi, novels, calm n silent. Surely, it is an example of management. Appearance of cafe is as ordinary as any other place but service is as good as 5* star restaurant. I mean seriously our order had the better presentation with best taste(allo parantha with salted lassi). A place to be revisited.
Small and simple and delicious. Great dosas--the sambar nice and toasty, chutney with a little kick. The selection of curries is limited but the paneer butter masala is fabulous, the gobi aloo nice and rich. The japati hot and puffy off the grill. I asked for gobi pakora--which isn't on the menu--and it came out beautifully crunchy with a nice burn to the besam and a dusting of some aromatic masala.
The last day at Benares started with a trip to Niyati Café, another quiet place in a serpentine lane, and their Ginger Honey Lemon complemented the Vegetable Sandwiches quite well. The staff were well mannered and did not charge extra for tea in my Ginger Honey Lemon. Good experience.
The last thali in India needed to be a good one. Since I was in Varanasi of which the restaurant recommendations are relatively limited, I had to resort to Tripadvisor. All the websites that listed Varanasi restaurants recommendations essentially exclusively list high-end luxury hotels all of which are near the train station. The only thali place is Niyati at #5 which is also conveniently near Dashaswamedh Ghat. Actually considering that is the most popular and largest ghat, I'm not surprised all the high TA recommendations are near there. Anyway, I digress...
Better Indian food than Shree (just down the street) and at cheaper prices. The parathas were good. The veg curry could use more gravy. We asked for the food spicy but it wasn't hot enough so we asked for pickle and got a small dish with excellent mango chutney to give it more zip. The hot lemon ginger honey drinks are perfect for soothing the throat.
A warm, cozy place tuck away in a corner on the way to Dashaswamedh Ghat. It's a small place which can accommodate around 12 people at a time. The food here is good. I had ordered a Hot Chocolate drink and a chocolate banana pancake for breakfast, both of which were just amazing. The owner apart from cooking, makes it a point to interact with the customers.
Overall, an awesome place to kill time and enjoy delicacies.
