Initially checked out Pepper House for its 400 year old architecture, but it's menu is engaging as well. The preparation time is okay and the food is fresh and delicious. There is a library attached with some really cool collections, some of those books are rare. In all, it's a place with a unique vibe and good food.

Must visit⤵️

Visited this place while I was here on a project. And trust me it was really worth visiting here. I had cold coffee, which was average in taste and had blueberry cheesecake which was superb. The portion was less and prices were high.

The ambiance is totally mesmerizing. The moment you enter this place you will forget everything. The artwork you're seeing here belongs to Praneet Soi, a well-known artist. Pepper house does provide their space for art exhibitions and many films have been shot here. So, yes it is possible that you may find something interesting here. They do have an in house library and their collection on art is commendable. Plus they have a souvenir shop also. I had a good time here.

I loved the cakes here!! The lemon iced tea was perfect. Not too sweet like it is in most places. Comfortable service and lovely ambience. I'll certainly visit often.

The iconic George-Celine cafe from Premam is a cute place with a library and an art cafe. We ordered carrot cake, hot chocolate and brownie with ice cream which was all good for brunch.

2.Spinach Mushroom Sandwich
3.Cheese Omelette Sandwich
4.Ice Lemon Tea, Carrot n Vanilla Cake
5.And of course "Chaaya" #tea
6. End Result ➡️ A happy us!!!
.
An almost perfect breakfast from @pepperhousekochi

Is this breakfast better than our malabar puttu-egg roast or neypathil-meat curry ?? No!!! But will i have this everyday ? Maybe! 🤤 .

About the ambience, if you have seen the Movie Premam, this is nivin pauly's cafe'. The location is perfect for a get together or for friends who wants to chill out. They have a library and a clothing store along with places where artists can showcase their works. All in all the place is a must visit for the ambience and especially for the food.

I would definitely visit here again the next time I'm in fort kochi to taste their lunch n dinner.

Good food, great ambience and books. What's not to love?
Pepper House Cafe, one of the most talked about cafes is also a venue for the biennale. So I walk in with my friend, terribly famished. We start with drinks. A passion fruit ice tea, and a lemon soda. Paired it with a very creamy ravioli stuffed with cheese and spinach. Yummy!
Looking forward to taste testing much much more.

Having wished to explore Pepper House and its cafe on numerous occasions before the biennale, I finally got the opportunity during the event. The place is a stunning example of vernacular architecture, radiating a heritage building vibe. The central green courtyard enhances its allure, and the structures are impeccably preserved, showcasing historical significance. Opting for a sandwich and coffee, the experience was somewhat mixed. The coffee, despite the prior hype, was only average, and the sandwich, though satisfactory, didn't quite live up to high expectations. What adds depth to the visit is the historical context. The fact that the cafe and Pepper House were closed during my earlier attempts before the biennale, only to be explored now, made the visit more intriguing. Pepper House stands as a historical structure, contributing to the cultural richness of Fort Kochi. While the culinary experience may not be extraordinary, the ambiance, coupled with its historical relevance, makes Pepper House a notable stop during the biennale or whenever you want to immerse yourself in the cultural heritage of Fort Kochi.

This place took my breath away. I am eternally fascinating by heritage structures and especially those that are in perfect working conditions. You can see the ideas of the past and get a glimpse into the artist/architect/designer's minds. Makes it an ideal location to host part of the Biennale. They also have an excellent, consciously curated shop that sells some lovely brands and goodies with great stories from across the country.

I visited Pepper House last weekend as part of visiting the Biennale. It was quite picturesque. The lawn was well maintained and I liked the view from the first floor towards the entrance. It was quite hot and my sister, brother-in-law and their friends had tea, etc. Overall, it has a nice atmosphere.

It's a beautiful old premise with great views of the waterside, cafe and some galleries. We visited it as part of the Binnealle. There is no library as mentioned in earlier reviews. The lawn is very beautiful and well maintained. This premise was used for shooting a popular Nivin Pauly movie called 'Premam'. The cafe has very limited items and is a tad bit expensive. They have options in coffee but don't serve tea(a little disappointed). They have an art shop on the ground level near the entrance(again pricey).

This is a place where you discover art in its different form. It's a really artistic place to visit in Kochi Port side whenever you are in KOCHI. The coffee shop serves some good coffees from Araku and has their interesting food menu with Mexican influenced food. Artists from other states and countries visit here once in 2 or 3yrs if I'm not wrong to attend the biggest art fare in Kochi "The Biennale". Had got some pictures of an artist making a live sketch of a photographer. It was really unexpected and i was flabbergasted after seeing the sketch.

Originally a warehouse for spices, this two-storey building is now a cultural space that houses a courtyard cafe, a visual arts library, a gallery, studios for artist residencies, and event spaces. Located in Calvetti, south of the Calvetti Juma Masjid and north of the Boat Jetty, Pepper House was originally a warehouse for spices, that has now been converted into a cultural center and coffee shop. The building consists of two historic dockside warehouses with Dutch style clay roofs. The warehouses are separated by a large courtyard which would have once been used for storing goods waiting to be loaded onto ships in the harbour. This two-storied building constructed out of wood, laterite, and lime is a typical example of the design and architecture of traditional warehouses in Kochi. The structure depicts the system of functioning of a traditional warehouse. The warehouse stretches with the Vembanad Lake on the eastern side and the road to the market on the western side. Pepper house has a rectangular open-space or a courtyard in the middle which is surrounded by structures. A tall and wide wooden door on the eastern side of the structure opens to the Vembanad lake, where the Periyar river meets the Arabian Sea. When Pepper House fulfilled the role of a warehouse, boats carrying raw yields of spices from different parts of Kerala sailed through the Periyar, and parked near the warehouse, after which the goods from these boats were unloaded into the warehouse. The goods were then taken into big halls in the building, where they were sorted and processed. On being processed, the goods were kept in the courtyard to dry, after which the goods were stored in sacks as finished products, ready to be traded. The wooden door on the western side of the structure opens to the road which leads to Kochi Spice-Market . Ever since the 14th century, when the progress of trade relations led to the evolution of Kochi as a major port, warehouses and godowns like Pepper House mushroomed at Calvetti, remnants of which are still noticeably around in Calvetti. It was the shift in the market that led to Calvetti losing its prominence, due to which most of the warehouses and godowns around Calvetti fell into disuse. Today, Pepper House is a privately owned cultural centre cum coffee shop, and is used as one of the main venues of Kochi-Muziris Biennale. Kochi Biennale Foundation, the organisers of the Biennale use this space for international art-residency projects as well. It houses a contemporary visual art reference library, which is free and open to all. Afterall the it's all Welcoming spaces that foster a sense of community and encourage public interest in art. Must visit. 9.6/10

A lovely little cafe with friendly staff and quick service. Great coffees and snacks - I especially recommend the iced cafe latte on a hot day. The pesto sandwich bread was perfectly toasted and a delight to taste. The cortado was balanced, not too bitter and delicious. Don't miss this place when in Kochi

Beautiful, clean, immaculately presented store with high quality items. Professionally run by a nice chap from Alleppey. A shame the cafe was not open when I went but it looked lovely.
