Elegance is the word that comes to mind once you enter this place. Shining cutlery, soft music, different-unique taste, not the typical keralite or Portuguese, but something in between with a modern outlook! Portions are more European, hence order carefully, starters can be small but main course could b bigger for a single person!👌

Elegance and class is by far the best one can feel whilst entering the History at Brunton. The Soft music, shining glassware and cutlery are all a signature sight here. One of the best places in Fort Kochi for traditional Kerala and Jewish inspired dishes. Cannot recommend a favourite here as it wouldn’t do justice to the beauties in the menu. A personal choice though would definitely be the ‘Chuttulli Meen’ . Any of the dishes here and a glass of your favourite wine is a great way to unwind in Namma Kochi.
Cheers fellow foodies!

Great fusion Kerala and Portuguese food, with an ambience worth writing about (hence this small contribution). The name and the dishes are a tribute to Kochi's history, as is the restaurant itself, where you are seated under a high wooden roof criss-crossed with beautiful beams. Three musicians were playing carnatic music, and service was discreet and spectacular. Drinks are priced on the higher side, but food is reasonable for the quantity and quality. Inside Brunton Boatyard and unmissable.

I have visited History Restaurant 2 year ago. When i was in Kochi. It was my first Visit to Brunton boatyard and I came here with my wife and brother. We heard a lot about the hotel, seafood restaurant. Right from the beginning the staff was very welcoming and accommodating. They wish you with traditional folding hands. We had the Seafood experience which offers 4 course meal at a very good deal with choice of fresh catch of the day with offerings of different marination. My brother order a chicken entrée and wife ordered for Palak paneer. Mind you it was Palak aur paneer which served along with moong dal and herd rice. All the meal dishes were delicious.
Icing on the cake. The live Indian classical instrumental music.

Special thanks to Dhanya for looking after our table and to Lins Luckose the Manager.

There are some places in kochi that a person just has to visit, and History is one of them. The ambience of the place is top notch. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Yes,it is expensive ( thats why the 4 stars), food for 5 cost us 4k without any starters. But the food is delicious. Appams were tasty, the biryani was flavourful. The chocolate ganache was delightful. And please do try their homemade ice creams. loved the banana flavour. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Starting with how beautiful the place is. It took us some time to get a table on that Easter Sunday. So we walked around a bit in the property. So beautifully maintained. So green with such a beautiful vintage touch.

We waited for almost 20 mins and finally got a slightly cramped table. They had a special menu for Easter. But we decided to order from their regular menu. Started off with some ice tea and some virgin mint mojitos. Both were refreshing with the right amount of tang and sweetness. Nothing special but definitely needed after the wait on that particularly hot summer day. Each one of us ordered a thali. The thali quantity was more than for one single person. What was common in all he thalis were the vegetarian curries. Each of them had a cabbage curry, a salad, some curd, beans and some pickled carrots. All the Thalis came with a generous portion of rice. The pickled carrots were especially yummy with that mustard and chilly hit. The chicken thali had a very coconuty chicken curry. Although I love coconut, this was my least favourite. They mentioned Chettinad chicken curry, but I didn’t get the Chettinad flavour. The prawn thali, had an extremely delicious and tangy prawn curry with jumbo sized prawns. The seafood thali, which was unsurprisingly the winner came with the same prawn curry and some other seafood extras. It had a delicious kerala style clam fry and a portion of melt-in-your-mouth fish fry.

For dessert, we chose from the Easter special menu. The desserts were average.we got the creme brûlée with a coconut flavour, the coconut caramel custard and the chandrakaran mango cheesecake. The cheesecake was the best amongst the three but the portion was too small. The caramel custard was delicious but the custard was split. The honey comb on the creme brûlée was again too chewy and the dessert itself was split.

History. There could not have been a more appropriate name for this upscale restaurant at Brunton Boatyard, Fort Kochi. The rich Arab, Jewish, Dutch, British and of course local heritage of this area is brought alive in the menu. As you walk up the wooden staircase near the open lobby, you enter an expansive place with old fashioned wood panels, wood flooring and lighting which is a bit yellow and dim but helps create the Raj like atmosphere.
The table is set very elegantly and a very polite set of staff usher you to your table. A refreshing Ginger honey drink is brought with compliments followed by a bread basket and butter. The Menu comprises of different items designed to showcase different cuisines associated with kochi but some stuff like Methi Paneer also creep into the menu, ostensibly brought into the region by Gujaratis. Well, History was not a subject I relished in school so we will take that version. There are however some excellent choices like Vypeen Moilee, Chuttulli Meen, a version of stew and First class Railway Mutton Curry.

We tried their Rasam. 3 different types- Tomato, Lemon and Raw Mango are served with Pappadums in small shot type glasses. Great taste and quite innovative presentation. The Adai Dosai we had next was amazing. It was actually 3 thin Dosais or let's say a cross of Dosa and Cheela, served with Avial which again was very different and tasted great. Already feeling qquite full, we skipped the Vattalappam which we really wanted to have- maybe next time.

A fine dinning experience thus ended. The costs were steep by Fort Kochi standards but so is everything with the chain that runs this hotel so we knew that beforehand.

They used to construct boats here, these days they make delicious food. The ambiance will make you feel like you are inside a boat during the medieval times. They have Malabar, Syrian food, European food, Jewish food too. If you are in a tight budget this may be difficult on your pocket. One meal may easily cost you 1500 and above. I went there because it was opposite to my hostel 'Vedanta'.

Experiencing The Historical Hotel is more than just the food. As we entered the stunning building we were greeted with the beautiful smell of sandalwood and warm smiles from the staff. We called ahead to ensure there were vegan options. There were many options and our waiter knew his menu very well, ensuring us what the vegan options were. They also have a some tasty fruity mocktails, as ones who don’t drink alcohol this was a nice treat. I would suggest dining at Brunton for anyone wanting to experience a quiet and beautiful atmosphere. There was live music which added to our candlelit dinner. We will be back.

There is no doubt that it's a fine dining restaurant. Indoor as well as outdoor space is clean and nice. The outdoor space is near the river, the only noise disturbance is from the frequent ferry service. Food was delicious and well plated so you can expect the price to be a bit high along with the taxes. One issue i felt is that they dont provide menu instead we need to scan QR code, since the network was weak we faced issue in viewing it.

Nice place. Hospitable staff. A special mention about Mr ASHWIN PAUL. He was quite helpful during our whole stay. I had forgotten some things in the room while checking out. ASHWIN PAUL had ensured that it was couriered to the railway station, where I was waiting for my return train. This had helped me avoid a lot of inconvenience.

The place will take us back to India before Independence. We can see antique materials used during the 18th century. The food & service was excellent.

Great restaurant with some more refined dishes. More expensive than your average restaurant but price/quality is on point. Also very courteous staff and fairly short wait times for your food. Definitely recommended to visit.

My wife and I visited the Armory for an anniversary lunch and were blown away by the ambiance, quality of food and service. We tried Continental as well as Kerala food - both were excellent, and the service by Ajosh and the rest of the staff helped us enjoy our experience even more. We had the tiger prawns, fish and chips, and the paneer dish, along with some of their signature cocktails and a bottle of Sula Chenin Blanc. One of the best fine dining experiences we've had in India. Must try!

When we went the staff were excellent. Our server, Abhinav was superb and very happy and smiley. We really enjoyed our food and absolutely loved that every dish on the menu of the history restaurant had a history lesson as to why it was there. Overall we left well fed and feeling like we knew more about the cuisine of Kochi and highly pampered by the staff.
