Banana leaf has been a culinary heritage since 1937.. If you are looking for a pure south Indian Restaurant with an authentic touch..then this is the place for you guys..this is the best Traditional South Indian Joint in the city of joy.. I'm saying it again.."The best".. This is a good place for dining in, though it's cozy as mentioned by a lot of reviewers..but still the service drops a really happy smile whenever u visit this place..the quality they provide is a definite gem on its own..probably one of the best Restaurants that serve quality as well as authentic South Indian Cuisines. A great variety of Dosas available here with lots of variety in the option menu! Definitely visiting again...

The refurnished/refurbished facility has more tables and chairs. Having earned a reputation for serving authentic south indian delicacies to the Kolkata community for decades, taste for most of the items stay intact. Several awards adorning the walls are a testament. I recall a time when morning joggers and walkers used to assemble for their adda over a cup of steaming coffee every day... Separate counters for takeaway, billing, ice cream, coffee/tea that used to be a bother earlier doesn't exist. Makes the eating place a little less noisy. Thali continues to satiate the pallette and stomach. With three veggies, papadam, rasam, sambar, unlimited servings ... Desert Kesari could have been better. Leftovers from breakfast probably.. Don't forget to try their coffee... Service could improve significantly. Even water was served after three prompts...not many patrons around... Overall, the tradition continues...

One of kind of heritage restaurant in Kolkata. Seems to be quite old. But Food is quite good. Service is also very good. Price is totally reasonable.

This is a pure vegetarian restaurant and they have done a good job creating a niche in non-vegetarian Kolkata. Dosa is awesome and you must not miss their chatni. Small menu good food great experience.

Location: Opposite footpath of Lake Mall, short walk from Kalighat metro. Ambience: Simple tables, looks very clean, clean hand-wash area with liquid soap. Service: Very prompt, ready to serve second helpings of sambar and chutneys. Ordered: * Cheese Podi Dosa: crispy dosa smeared with lot of cheese and podi masala on the inside, served with thick coconut chutney, flavourful tomato chutney, hot sambar, very tasty. Rs 215. * Filter Coffee: typical South Indian coffee served in the traditional way, nice aroma of fresh coffee, stimulating. Rs 50. Moderate pricing, excellent food quality. Overall, highly recommended!

One of the best place to have south indian food. Service was very fast. Food came in 15-20 mins of ordering. The seating place was neat and clean. The quantity is enough to make one full. I tried plain cheese uttapum with 2 bowls of complimentary jain style sambar daal and 1 bowl of coconut chutney. It was worth the Rs 175 price i paid for. My mother had plain dosa which was super big. Though it looks normal in the picture. But it has 3-4 folds inside which makes it super big. Overall a great experience. Will visit again soon 😊

After a long time, we ate superb dosas at Banana leaf. My partner's was Mysore masala dosa, and mine was sada dosa. Some days ago we ate dosas at Haldiram that were hideous! These dosas gave us peace! 😌😌😌 And that fresh lime soda man! That was hea-ven-ly.

It's a good place for dinning out. Probably one of the best South Indian restaurants that serve quality as well as authentic South Indian cuisines. A great variety of Dosas available here. Ice tea is a must try here. Ambience is very good here and maintain top quality hygiene. You can also hop in for a quick evening milk tea or black tea break here.

This is best Traditional South Indian Joint in the City and its live up to its expectations fully. If you love, or would like to have South Indian food and looking for some place then this is the best place. As I used to eat lot of South Indian foods since 2010 so i have lil bit of idea about it. I ordered 1 classic Vestal Mojito 1 Mysore ButterMasala Dosa 1 uttapam platter Cooked was more or less perfect spices are very good. Just 1 thing i don't like that is quantity was so small and price to quantity ratio can disappoint you. That's it for this one, will comeback with another review very soon. Till stay safe eat healthy.
