Well, if you often visit the Taj and are an ardent Middle East cuisine lover, you shouldn’t miss this at any cost! As the name goes, every dish out here reminds of an authentic Arab marketplace - the ingredients, flavours and smells! Even the decor punches a right blend of luxury and Azeri which sets the mood for a perfect meal. Personal favourites include Humus Beiruty, Cigara Boregi and Eish Baladi (the perfect kind of pita that I’ve ever had) paired with Samak Bil Feta, which I feel has certain Bong-Greco flavours to it (yes, that Bhekti infused with creamy sauce). Among desserts, Chocolate Cigara is the perhaps a good way to infer with a nutty flavour that leaves you feeling satisfied. Already craving for some great Lebanese? Souk’s calling!
A beautiful mix of Mediterranean cuisines of the East Med, North Africa and Southern Europe makes Souk a must visit place for an awesome and healthy meal.
Comprising of lots of vegetables, herbs , seasonings and meat this is the most healthy of all cuisines. Influences from the Lebanese, Syrian, Egypt, Greece, Palestine and other countries this is one helluva cuisine.
Souk is a beautiful restaurant done in pastels and looks so fresh even at Dinner ( it's open for dinner only). The Expat chef has done wonders with the menu, use of yoghurt and cheese like the haloumi, feta cheese and labneh just make it so wonderful. Big variety of salads like the Tabouleh, Fattoush paired well with the Dios and condiments like the Hummus, Mohmara, Babagannouj and more endless options.
Use of chickpeas , Bourgul(kind of wheat) and beans and the endless herbs like the mint, parsley and use of sumac ( a sour berry) just make it so unique.
Souk has a vast menu covering almost every region of the cuisine, grilling, roasting, baking and even Moroccan tagine is used for a few different sh preparations.
A lovely restaurant for your special occasions and I bet you will fall in love with service, ambience and food once you visit here.
I had been here once and the buffet they have is pretty good with varied range of Oriental, continental and Indian( mughlai and bengali) dishes. The stewards and the stewardess here were amicable. The experience overall was satisfying.
I went on a dinner date with my fiancé. Loved the food, especially the prawns, yummm! And the lamb was delicious as well. Love the ambience. Thank you for the warm welcome.
This was the first time we ate at Taj Kolkata. The food was very authentically prepared but the portion sizes were quite small. The service was undoubtedly good but could have been a bit quicker.
We visited the Souk restaurant in Taj for my birthday celebration. It is a restaurant that serves Lebanese and Middle Eastern cuisines. Let me start with the ambience. It was fabulous. The staff were extremely courteous and professional. We ordered a 3 course meal consisting of Kolkata bhetki, chicken, hummus and shawarma. Though the fish was excellent and of a top notch quality, the others were not so much. We paired the food with an Italian and an Indian white wine which was excellent and crisp to taste. The staff even brought out a surprise cake for me and celebrated my birthday there. It was a rich and decadent chocolate chiffon cake that served as a dessert for us. I highly recommend checking out the restaurant but if you do, stick to red meat as the chicken is not that good there.
Thank you Souk for such a wonderful experience.
Food: 5/5
Ambience: 5/5
Service: 5/5
Price: 5/5
Overall a wonderful experience. The quality of food remains top notch even after all these years. Just went to had my all time favourite rose petal ice-cream but couldn’t resist the smell of amazing kebabs being served and ended up ordering that as well.
An all time favourite place.
Helpful staff add significantly to the dining experience. Robust ambient music though some may find it a tad loud. The decor is just right - neither minimalist nor overbearing - and you can see the chef/cooks at work while seated at your table. And try their rose petal ice cream. You will want to return for that. Quite delicious Middle Eastern cuisine covering a range of different countries. From starters to desserts, sumptuous all the way.
Lovely Place to Dine with very Cool Music. Amazing platter & Awesome Ambiance. Very good Decor. Hummus Truffle a must try along with Fattir Pizza to order.
As usual, there are very few things that Taj gets wrong and this is just another example of the same. The service is par excellence, the food is perfect and the ambiance is like being pampered as well as being treated well. Its a wonder why there aren't many Mediterranean restaurants around the city and maybe its because of the exotic ingredients, but even if there was, the chances that they would match up to the quality, authenticity and sheer variety of Souk is not only unlikely but near impossible
Food is always about an experience, dining at souk was a good experience exploring wide range of Mediterranean food.
Thanks taj for a wonderful experience and hospitality.
Souk is inside Taj Bengal. The brand Taj says it all. The service and food is top notch. They don’t try to over do things, but what ever they serve is made out of top quality items and the food are cooked to perfection.
The best Mediterranean dine den in the city that serves some lip smacking foods. Must visit. We went for dinner and loved the cuisine and the atmosphere.
Best Lebanese food in India! Guaranteed! But it come at a price - and it is heavy.. well but then the best food has to be expensive so i cannot complain..
However, the Halloumi portion is extremely small for ₹1k+tax..
Massive menu with lots and lots of veg options as well.. the assorted breads / pita is unparalleled and a must try! The garlic paste (toum) is also very nice and fresh..

When it's Taj, you expect nothing less and get nothing less.
Awesome place , awesome food , great ambience I cannot find words to write, its just wow.
The food was extremely good and the service was excellent. Mr Shambo provided the best of service and also suggested some dishes. Kibbe was unique and the Rose Petal icecream was out of the world.
We went for our Anniversary dinner and they provided a complementary celebration cake.
An exceptionally curated set meal, “TDH Souk Experience”, made our New Year’s Day dinner extra special.
Starting with a selection of mezze with a variety of pita breads, through to an exquisite lamb broth, prawns steamed to perfection, succulent kebab and a chicken preparation with rice at the finish before a duo of delectable desserts, this was an elaborate repast worthy of a celebration for two.
Many thanks to the small but engaging and elegant trio of servers, Shambo, Shakti and Kankona.

I happen to try all desserts here! Trust me that’s it’s the best! Had the B’stilla au lait, Baklava and rose ice cream
B’stilla au lait : Simply out of this world dessert! The crispy and thin warqa pastry and the saffron milk engulfing the same is just superb! Must have!!
Rose ice cream : It’s was superb as well! The flavour and the texture were really nice! Even though I’m not a fan of rose, this ice cream made me fall in love with it!
Baklava : This was tasty as well but quite rich and heavy for my liking!
Shoutout to Anshumann for all the help!
Recommendation: Booking is a must as this place is always crowded
Must visit. We went for dinner and loved the cuisine and the atmosphere. Nice ambiances. 👍👍👍
