A nice cosy joint with consistently good quality food. I’ve come here quite a few times over the years and the standard of food has remained high for the most part. A big fan of their mushroom soup and I normally don’t have soup at all so that’s saying something. Pastas used to be very good as well though I haven’t tried it in recent times. The grilled prawns which was another favourite of mine had dipped a little in standard the last time I went with the flavours of the sauce being altogether too strong but the Lamb Shank picked up my mood as it was wonderful as always!
The home made orange rind ice cream was a nice way to end the meal.
This place is basically a restaurant which belongs to kookie jar and is situated in alipore food bazar building !!
So I have visited this place like ample number of times but this time after a very long time I visited this place
So now I would briefly discuss each factor of the plAce
Ambience :well ,they have a good seating space ,and it is quiet calm and composed and every tables has its own privacy ,this place is moreover good for a date ,altogether a good place as far as the ambience is concerned
Service : The average waiting time for the food to come was 15 to 20 mins which is extremelly decent ,which is neither too slow nor too fast
Staffs ;well, coming to this I have a small complaint ,well being a regular zomato reviewer,I click pictures of the ambience of the place ,while I was taking picture of the every area of place ,one of the staff told me not to do ,the tone in which he said sounded a little rude to me ,otherwise the stAffs were responsive of our needs
Food :Well we ordered a whole wheat pizza and molten choco lava cake ,the choco lAva cake was just heavenly and the pizza was also crispy and delicious but again one small complaint ,they did not serve ketup along with pizza so we had to ask for it,overall good
Portion;the portion was extremelly good enough for two people
Pricing :for two people the per head cost came around 500 ,I feel it was decent enough ,because the portion was more than enough
Altogether a must try place
Very good quality of food however very expensive and less quantity really like the food though very tasty and also satisfactory though expensive it makes up for the quality
Fine dining. Love the place. Breakfast is good and the mud pie is tasty and perfect gooey. Love the mushroom cappuccino and the pizza. The service is prompt.
Prolly, the best schnitzel I ever had in Kolkata! Perfectly cooked, bit crispy, succulent with my fav toppings. Yummy! Would have rated 5/5 but -1 because for the pricing. Kookie Jar has always been favourite for its quality.
The most creatively appetising meal in the town.Steeply priced yet worth every penny.
Each dish is such a visual treat and Just oh so perfect on the tastebuds.
The to die for hot chocolate was so chocolatey and creamy to the yummy spiced watermelon salad was one of the best that I’ve ever had.
The beet root & goat cheese ravioli just melts in the mouth and super yummy. The thin crust pizza was just average and not the best I’ve had.
Over all quite an amazing place with all day dining options.
This place has been existing for a long time now in the Kolkata food scene and has been constant in its food and service according to my family who visit here quite often.
The set up is very casual and comfortable. The menu is decent and the restaurant is also backed by Kooki Jar for confectioneries.
What we ordered:
-Chef Salad : beautiful and fresh. We asked for extra feta cheese and it made the salad even better tasting.
-Mushroom Cappucino : it was a little too grainy for my taste. I have had this dish in a couple os restaurants, the broth is smoother andthe mushroom tastes sings more than in this place. But it wasn't too bad
-Chicken Stroganoff :again just a good dish, nothing extra ordinary but not bad as well. It had taste but somehow I felt the oomph was missing.
-Chocolate Sandwich with Belgian Ice Cream : the sponge was decent but the belgian ice cream was the best part of this dessert. I would rather just get couple of scoops only of the icecream.
The service was quick since we were the only people on a weekday afternoon and the prices were nominal (around 700-800 per head)
Great food, made with fresh, super quality ingredients, fabulous presentations and ever warm and smiling people ! Special mention to Chef Suvneet!
Mangio is located in Alipore, in the kookie jar floor.
Their ravioli is a must try and also their thin crust margherita pizza is a must try. If you're going their for just a meeting, then do try their hot chocolate, the hot chocolate is a must have.
Mangio is one place which has been consistently serving quality food since years now! Their pasta, pizza and the risotto are all quite nice though the place is slightly over priced. The desserts obviously are amazing KJ's bakery backing them. Would be good if they could now revise the menu and come out with new dishes since in the vegetarian options and reconsider their pricing given their portioning.
