Located at Gariahat Road South, Dhakuria, Kolkata this place is an awesome place for various dishes. We tried Ham Sandwich, Iced Tea, Fried Fish from this place. The service here is quite good and the food was really tasty. The Ham sandwich was really great and the fish was of good quality. The iced tea was really refreshing. overall a pocket-friendly place to have some good time with good foods.
This is a very small column sized restaurant in the niche side with its appearance, interiors and the varieties of tea on display. Was really hungry so went ahead to order chicken cheese sandwich priced at Rs 150 and one cup Makaibari Darjeeling olong priced at Rs 100. Unlike other places where you get chicken chunks in the sandwich, here they serve the sandwich in two regular sized white bread sliced properly and grilled with stuffings of three slices of chicken ham, cheese, tomato and capsicum added with pepper and a little spicy ketchup. I ordered for Darjeeling olong which did not taste like that and hence a little disappointed as I have had original Makaibari Darjeeling olong before.
So if you are shopping in Dakshinapan and wish to grab something and take a mini break, then you can always opt for this tea place.
My first visit to this place was guided by my mom..she recommended me the place..really it is worth mentioning that the lemon ginger ice tea and the chicken sandwich was awesome..specially the tea satisfied my taste buds the most..yesterday was the day of my 1st visit and this yesterday is going to repeat again and again....
This place is above any reviews when it does come to the nostalgic perceptions. Dolly Roy is a very, very lovely person who deals with aesthetics, swiftly. Oolong tea, my all-time favorite alongside Darjeeling Roasted one.
One of my favorite destination from my college days situated in dakshinapan. Last week went their had a grilled chicken sandwich and a mango tango. Just amazing. I really like the way they do things. But only thing is that there's no air-con. In this weather of calcutta it's a necessity.
A very beautiful quaint cafe tucked inside the dakshinapan shopping complex. Tea lover bengalis fond of the cha and adda will feel at home here. Mostly full of ladies who've just completed their shopping the establishment has two sections a few outdoor seating chairs and an interior stacked with teas and books.
Of all their teas my favourites were the peppermint, first flush and the muscatel.
The chicken and ham sandwich they make does have a good bite and actual cured ham ( not pork bits like many restaurants), it's a good choice if you're hungry. The fish fingers though not great are decent enough for munchies. The pasta is just not good and they've never pleased me with a plate of it.
The establishment is run by a very friendly lady who happens to be a very warm host.
The tea at this place is not just great..its beyond that. Its prepared the way it should be..with the right amount of leaves and perfect quality. So if you have ordered a Darjeeling 2nd flush, rest assured you are going to get exactly that, and not some mismash blend. You get recommendations too about milk and sugar for the best taste. The ambience is as it should be, peaceful, restful, just your soul and the nourishing tea.
After shopping at Dakshinapan, Dolly's tea shop is a perfect place to get refreshed. Different types of teas are served and sold. Snacks and side dishes are also available. Nice ambience. Very small area.
A small but prominent tea joint in Dakhsinapan complex serving soul soothing teas for decades. Friendly ambiance, warm and homely greetings from the staff and food that tastes like homemade hygienic and delicious stuff. Mostly i like the behaviour of the lady staff here... Quite motherly and accommodative. Hot teas are wonderful. Must haves are the premium tea, Darjeeling teas. Grilled sandwiches are great too.
It's one of my favourite and most visited cafe in south kolkata.its a quiet n cozy place who seves the best ham sandwich .if you are a tea lover this place is a must visit. Say it the 1st slush or any tea cooler they have all. The only drawback is, this place is small so my suggestion try to avoid rush hours.
One of the oldest and authentic tea shop, that serves varieties of tea and snacks. It is a very small shop, with limited sitting arrangements. We had the Darjeeling first flush tea, it was pretty good. The service was also very promt. This tea shop was owned by Dolly Roy, wife of veteran politician Sougato Roy. She left this world in April, 2023 and it was her birthday today when we visited. Spotted Sougato Roy there.
The price was nominal, for a hot cup of first flush we only paid 100Rs.
Great selection of loose leaf Darjeeling teas, particularly in the premium price ranges. Have been buying from here for many years now as a part of any trip to India. Sealed plastic foil packaging keeps the tea fresh for years.
A hidden gem in Dakshinapan. This place is owned by the first woman tea taster of India and named after her: Dolly. The inside of the tea shop is air conditioned while you can choose to take a seat outside if you want a smoke with your cup of tea. The ambience is really good with old retro music in the background. They hang lanterns from the ceiling which adds to the warm, cosy feeling offered by this tea shop. Almost all sorts of tea that they offer is A+ in quality and in make. The salads are fine. And the sandwiches are quite good too. Dolly's is quite pocket friendly and undeniably one of the better food sections in Dakshinapan.
Dakshinapan is non air conditioned and in case you want to take a break from the shopping for a light casual meal, this is the place to go. There is Indthalia outside too but Dolly's provides, good tea, comfort food for lesser bucks, an amazing ambience and a cosy atmosphere. You can buy tea to take back home as well. There are no taxes of any kind imposed on any item on the menu. The menu is rather limited to a few varieties but I would still go back. The pasta however is not that great.
It is a cosy, nostalgic tea shop in Dakshinapan. Do try their Ice tea and sandwich. Easy on pocket and very tasty.
I've loved Dolly's over the years and wanted to make sure I revisit this favorite of mine when I returned to the city after a decade. It's a small serene shop located in the midst of a chaotic shopping area. The current location shown in the map is incorrect and Dolly's Tea Shop is actually located at Dakshinapan Market. The spread of tea's that you can taste here is impressive. Some of them might not be as good as the others, but you keep coming back to find the one that hits a sweet spot with your preference. I love the little seats inside the shop for two people to sit next to each other and create a little private world within a crowded space. This place is a definite must try for anyone who's not been here to experience and decide for themselves.
When you reach there you feel getting lost in a tea garden of Eden, all kind of flavours are ready for get your taste buds tantalized for better & smell to make you refreshed with ecstacy if you are a teetotaler. Must recommended.
Dolly's Tea is a unique tea shop and stands apart from any other tea shop in Kolkata. I have been visiting the shop since 2003 with the interval of a couple of years. I must say that in the past 20 years, the quality has remained intact. The staff of the shop and amazingly friendly: then and now. The shop is a good place for the connoisseur of tea. It is the best hang out joint for meeting people and spending hours over their aromatic range of tea. Summer is the best time to try out their cold tea specialities, all of which are awesome. They also sell tea leaves. If you are new and do not know which one to try, they will guide you to select the best that will relax you and assist in unwinding yourself. Among various options, I would recommend corn cheese sandwich and cold orange mint tea. But, keep exploring. It is kid friendly. Parking is available at the Dakhinapan Shopping Complex parking lot. It is closed on a sunday. Happy siping!
Dolly's Tea Shop Kolkata was our adda space during my days with Tara TV that was based round the corner at Jodhpur Park. She would always find me a seat inside so we could chat. I would convince all my foreign houseguests to pick up the little wooden tea chests in which she would sell her tea as the perfect souvenir of Kolkata. So much nostalgia. Do share your memories of this iconic Kolkata hang out in Dakhinapan.
A tea boutique, one of its kind. People go there not only for different kinds of tea but also to soak in the ambience. I had the good fortune to enter into a conversation with the illustrious owner of this unique tea shop and learnt many things about this beverage. My husband and I had ginger lemon iced tea and then had premium quality Darjeeling tea. The prices are quite high than the regular cafes serving tea; but then, this place is meant for the tea connoisseurs and tea lovers. If you are planning to shop in Dakshinapan and feel like having a cup of hot brewing tea, then you might be interested in this tea boutique. You can buy your favourite tea leaves here and this shop provides an instructional card how to brew that particular tea at home. The sitting arrangement offers both indoor and in the open air.
A lovely cafe with outdoor seating. Exquisite tea. Attentive service. Great for chilling after hard-core shopping!
I can't say much for the cheese sandwich I ordered, but I would definitely stop again for the tea!
