Wonderful place! Owner was extremely friendly, and all the staff seemed super helpful. We were new to Bong cuisine, so they helped us identify our preferences and served accordingly. The fish was out of this world! Would absolutely recommend this to anyone for the sheer customisability they offer; they can do boneless variants, reduce spice levels, and much more as per the customer's request. As one of the less popular places on Park Street, Ilish is underrated. Must visit!

“LET HILSA BE THE FOOD FOR LOVE … “Out of all the Bengali restaurants found in Kolkata I would rate this place as top notch only reason they don’t use unnecessary sugar on any of their food items. Another reason is for outstanding Bhapa Hilsa & Bhapa Bhetki which is definitely a must try with steamed rice. The salted lassi with Gandha Raaj lemon zest is a divine drink to add on and highly recommended. To end it with Kheer (loved the way they added ghee in the kheer) and Bhapa Sandesh. What’s more is the nostalgia around the place with modern Bengali music with ample seating options with a tint of old Bengal style flooring. Now the bummer after having all the food I did not burp, rather it will be my first Bengali food which got digested in couple of hours 😊. So next time if you are looking for a real Opar Bangla Bengali cuisine this my friend is the place to be. Hope they sustain this quality would definitely visit again.

Our Kolkata cab driver recommended this restaurant as this was on the way and thought it was among the best en route. The restaurant is near the busy Park Street where it is difficult to find parking space. Entry to the restaurant is shady and you feel like you shouldn't go as the staircase ambience is not that encouraging. Once you enter the ambience is okay and it's not that spacious. Service is good. I liked the food most. I enjoyed the Bengali thali that 8nckuded banana flower curry, fried brinjal, poori, rice, dal, mishti dahi and a lot more. Basically this is a non vegetarian restaurant that serves veg food too.

I recently dined at a wonderful Bengali restaurant, and I must say it was a culinary delight. The flavors and aromas of the dishes transported me to the streets of Kolkata. The highlight was the mouthwatering Dab Chingri, Shorshe ilish and mutton, perfectly spiced and fragrant. The warm and friendly staff provided excellent service, adding to the overall great experience. If you're a fan of authentic Bengali cuisine, this restaurant is a must-visit.

good option for typical bengali food, specially fish items, bit too high priced otherwise good, must try item "whole bhetki tandoori".

Fantastic food, atmosphere/decor, and service. We all got the pre-set meals and were throughly impressed with the taste and quality of the food. Would highly recommend for authentic Bengali food in the Park Street area. A wonderful experience! In the pre-set meal/thali: the dish with banana flowers and shrimp, various fish dishes, daal and luchis were great. The brown rasgulla and misti doi were awesome!

The menu was good but they didn't had proper portions in menu they had only quarter portions of food like 2 pieces in almost each fish related meal, which was a bit costly I believe. Chicken mutton were medium spicy and it was 3/5 for me. Ilish fish bharta was rs. 650 and was less than 50 grams but was tasty.

Wanted to try chicken dak banglow. So went for the authentic bangla ilish restaurant. Parcelled it and bhetki fry. Good service at the restaurant. Good atmosphere. Chicken dak banglow did not disappoint. Bhetki fry could be richer in flavour but good.
