NCPA is located at the heart of Mumbai, Nariman point, and it is one of the prime hubs for Arts and Culture in the city. At the NCPA, along with performing arts, the art of leisure and culinary get their due as well. Here, Chef Farrokh Khambata started with the fine dine European and Mediterranean restaurant Amadeus, and then opened the Cafe at NCPA. For his latest offering, he brings a new Robata Thai restaurant to the city, called Izaya. Izaya’s claim to fame is being Mumbai’s first restaurant with Robata Thai dining experience. The food served here is prepared in a three-tiered Japanese ‘Robatayaki’ grill, which not only preserves but accentuates the Thai and Malay flavours of the dishes. ‘Sa Khoo’, rice dumplings made using centuries old traditional Thai techniques add another feather to Izaya’s cap. They’re served here with different stuffings, with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Sa khoo and something from the Robotayaki grill are a must-have if you are visiting this place. The place looks very pleasing aesthetically, with simple blue-grey tones. Both indoor and outdoor seating are well-lit and comfortable for long dining sessions. Although the vegetarian options are limited, we could still recommend the Chiang Mai Tofu, Hokkaido corn, Green Thai Curry and Crispy Lotus Stem with Yellow Beans. Also check out their seasonal Yoko Kan Menu, which serves their best dessert, the Namelaka. Overall, the place may seem a bit pricey, but it more than makes up for it with the authenticity of the South-East Asian menu and the experience of Robata dining. This place can’t be missed if you are a fan of Thai food.

Excellent food. Pretty expensive. The pork tenderloin skewers were excellent!

The place is a part of the bunch of restaurants in the NCPA campus and I strongly believe that the entire campus is underrated when it comes to food. Izaya didn't disappoint either. The food was awesome though the restaurant is slightly small (intimate?). It serves Oriental food and did a great job of the dishes that we ordered.

Location: Gate No. 2, NCPA, Nariman Point Recommendation: Drinks: Sangria Food: Phad Thai (Highly Recommended) Mutton Chops Crispy Lotus Stem (Highly Recommended) Chocolate Mud Pie (Highly Recommended) Izaya is one of the restaurants located in the famous NCPA of Mumbai. It's provides Robata fine dining experience serving Thai & Malay Cuisine cooked especially using the Robatayaki technique making it the first of it's kind in the city. They have both indoor as well as outdoor spaced out seating arrangement. The most unique and attractive part about the ambience of this fine dining restaurant is the seating arrangement near the Live Kitchen. Yes you read that right! You can sit near the Live Kitchen, watch your food being made in front of you and even interact with the chef. It's one heck of an experience. We were here for a dinner and quite liked the experience it been our first time. We started off with White Wine Sangrias. It was absolutely on point loaded with sliced apples and totally refreshing. We called for few starters. They have limited yet good options for both Vegetarian and Non Vegetarians. Especially for Non Vegetarians they have options in Chicken, Mutton, Pork and Seafood as well. The Frilly Egg Salad is a good option to start your meal with. It was basically fried eggs drenched in a sweet & sour dressing and topped with fresh coriander stems, peppers and fried garlic. I just wished the acidity of the dressing was a bit less stronger. The Crispy Lotus Stem appetizer is something you shouldn't miss at all! The perfectly sliced Lotus stems were fried and covered in a mildly tangy sauce. I absolutely LOVED them! These are perfect for munching if you plan on drinking here. I tried Soft Pork Tacos from their then on going Valentine's Week Menu. It was one of the best of it's kind I have ever had! Juicy pork stuffed between a soft tortilla along with fresh coriander stems, peppers and a sweet and sour dressing was absolutely lip smacking! I so wish they include it in their regular menu as well. If you love Mutton Chops then do try the ones served here. It's cooked well in a mildly spicy sauce. The meat was juicy and had a slightly smoky flavour to it. If you really love to experiment then try the Sa Khoo. These are rice dumplings served in a tradition way. It's didn't quite suit our taste buds. For mains we ordered for Phad Thai and a Vegetable gravy. The Phad Thai which was bang on flavors! It was probably the best one I have had so far. For all you Vegetarians, you can ask the server to customize any particular Non Veg dish in Cottage Cheese or Tofu or Vegetable variants. They will happily do it for you if it can be done. We ended our lovely meal with their signature desserts. The Chocolate Mud Pie was one of the best desserts I have had so far! It had that addicting mixture of Dark Chocolate along with soft crushed dark chocolate sponge. I absolutely LOVED it. I am still not over it! It's the one thing that will definitely make me travel miles to this place! If you like coconut in your dessert then you should definitely go for their Panna Cotta. I loved the way it was presented!
