Really cool place to hangout with friends.. The decor is well good, sports related things are presented.. They have very tasty pastries, but still variety of them us less. I love their New York baked cheese cake

Spent some time here watching the Formula One Race on Sunday. Cosy little place with seating available on the ground and a staircase which leads to the upper floor. The ground floor has a smaller TV whereas the upper one has a big screen and thus is better sitting on the top in case of having a big group. Parking is readily available and is valet based parking. Here are my ratings:

1) Ambience: Simple decor. Pastries and dessert counter on the ground floor. All of the orders need to be placed at this counter. The Powai lake can be best viewed from the top.

2) Service: Very good. Orders were made available on time. When i entered the cafe, there was cricket playing on the TV and on my request they switched the channel for the F1 race.

3) Food: Ordered for chai, veg puffs and pakodas. All in all good taste, however was disappointed with the pakodas as the menu mentioned that the pakodas are a mix of corn and paneer, however did not notice any corn pakodas, instead they served green chilly pakodas which made my mouth burn.

4) Price: Reasonable.......

5) Location: Cool....Opp to the Powai Lake

just near the punchkutir bus stop is this place. Limited stuff & average beverages... cakes are ok-ok too.  The ambiene gives a limited sporty feel but its ok as the place is small.

We (literally, and figuratively) chanced upon this place after sifting through the joints at Hiranandani. A birthday treat by one of our friends, we wanted to savour some desi flavour. After all those weekends of Italian/ Continental/ Chinese cuisines and beer jugs and towers, we craved for a simple fare! And there we landed, after sampling and sheepishly 'sitting' in a couple of restaurants including Mini Punjab, above which this ostensible 'dhaba' is located.

This 'dhaba' is located on the first floor above the Mini Punjab restaurant. It is covered with 'charpai' cots and 'masnad' pillows for a desi style seating, and wooden planks from the posterior flaps of trucks (yups!) in place of formal tables. You relax in typical nawabi style on the comfy spread savour the typical ambience around. Located right across the Powai lake an surrounded by lounges, this place (the only open air non-ground floor dhaba I've eer visited!) provides a mini escape from the modern rushing world into a typical medieval small town realm! The decor and lighting suit up to create a heart-warming ambience.
We ordered missi rotis, naans, paneer, mixed veg, kaali daal and peeli daal; and topped that with their gigantic glasses of lassi (a must have if you visit this place) and gulab jamuns for dessert. The service was a tad delayed, and any order took a minimum of half an hour to arrive; but gradually, we got used to the pace too. We waited long after the food was over, relishing the environment and our 'bakar' till about 11pm, when it was time to shut down.

Overall, an atypical and distinctive experience!

Overall: 3.5/5
