New alka is always my go to place when I am in Baroda and their uttappa is awesome. I usually prefer the aloo paratha more since it is very tasty. Overall it's a very good restaurant serving dishes which are reasonable in price and also quality is up to the mark. Definately recommending it to tourists also.
Always always my fav place to have my craving satisfied for utthapam,idlis,and vdas.very spic nd span ,maintains same taste,very prompt service..kaam se kaam ,no taamzam..that's da reason this place surviving for so loooong...

The restaurant is a family oriented and ambience is having a warm welcome.The menu has mainly concentrated on Chinese and south Indian varieties with it.the taste of the food is very good and the budgeted menu. Good option for the family outings and friends party.
Loved the foood and the service! They happily served us lunch at 4PM which is a blessing as most restaurants don't serve. Plus the owner is very friendly and we instantly hit it off with him as he also belongs to our native place.
My childhood memories wala restaurant. I have been a customer of Alka Restaurant since childhood. There are 4 branches...But Alkapuri and Fatehgunj once are worth visiting. Their Hyderabadi Biryani is Awesome. It is a family restaurant, atmosphere is like that of A Udupi restaurant....prefer the AC side of the restaurant for a good comfortable ambience. Pricing for AC is on the higher side.
Food is good as per pricing. Certainly it is not a Fine Dine Restaurant, but a good one for occasional dinners.
They are South Indian food specialist but offer everything like Punjabi, Chinese, pav bhaji, pizza etc
Food Quality is Very Excellant & Hygenic.

New Alka is a great affordable restaurant to have South Indian and North Indian food in Vadodara. The fatehgunj branch is the best one among the Alka chain restaurants. I personally like their Punjabi dishes the most. The cheese paneer masala was so good, it had cubes of cheese in it which melted so easily in my mouth and it had a perfect balance of spices. The Masala Papad was crispy and nice. Buttermilk was cool and soothing. Then the mango shake with ice cream was really delicious. The servers don't bother you much but are always a signal away. They have both AC as well as non ac seatings. The only thing I didn't like was that they charge you more if you dine in the AC hall. But still this is a must visit place at least once.
Having the Old world charm, this is a classic restaurant with basic ambience but really delicious food!! The menu is superb- from Indian, to Chinese to fast food there are plenty options. Quick service. If you're looking for good comfort food, head to Alka restaurant
